Abraham: "I Will Beat Miranda, Pavlik and De La Hoya"

I'm leaning towards an Abraham win over Miranda. First time out they looked pretty evenly matched prior to the jaw break, but Abraham is the better technical and tactical boxer so I expect him to get the decision. The way he stands behind that high guard and lures his opponent in before firing back just when they don't want him to is a tough style for Miranda, whose natural game is to jump all over his opponent, but who also tries to reign that instinct in. It will confuse him. I don't think Miranda can KO Abraham either, if he couldn't do it to a guy whose main prerogative was to protect a broken jaw, I don't see how he can do it to a fully functioning Abraham. This will be a good fight though, and I might easily be wrong.
As for Pavlik v Abraham, I don't know who would win, but it is a fight I would very much like to see because it would answer a lot of questions about both fighters. In some ways Abrahams style is made for Pavlik, because Abraham is prepared to stand in front of his opponent taking shots on his gloves before returning fire when they quit throwing. Considering Pavlik is an accumulation power puncher and rarely stops throwing this could be a very risky tactic and unless Abraham has a very good chin he might get beat quite easily. On the other hand, it does seem that Abraham has a good chin, since even with a broken jaw Miranda, a noted (although probably a bit overrated) puncher himself couldn't get him out of there. Abraham is also a good bit faster and more skilful than Pavlik is and can hit hard himself. If he can take Kelly's shots then I could imagine him making Kelly look quite one-dimensional and get a "cleaner harder shots" decision or even a KO over The Ghost.
As I said, a tough one to call, but a great clash of styles if you like having your questions about fighters answered.Last edited by abadger; 06-20-2008, 08:09 AM.Comment

abraham is being severely overrated with his boxing skills. he throws alot of very wide, looping shots, leaving himself open much to often. he also fights in only spurts, and his stamina is so so. in the first miranda fight his punches at times were so wild and off balance at times it was laughable. he has good power, and defense, but he is not that great a boxer.Comment
