So Mayweather would fight mediocre Joe Blow for 15 million instead of fighting the most dangerous opponent for 10?Comment

Do you mean like dlh not fighting winky wright or something of that nature? Smart business move? Depends. IS dlh a coward for not giving the fans what they want by not fighting winky. See vargas and dlh's resume for an opinion.Comment

well lets take into account the case of a fighter Viva loathesThat thread on cowardice by Viva Mexico inspired me to make this thread. Based on his plain and basic common sense i have a question. If a boxer makes a "business" move is that a clean word for *****ing out or is it being smart and not worth getting into the ring vs a worthy opponent.
for Mayweather, Viva's main bone of contention is that Mayweather is a coward for not accepting the 8 million dollar offer Arum had for him to fight Margarito. On the surface, for most casual fans (which IMO Viva is) it is cowardice because all they see is a fighter choosing not to fight another.
dig deeper and we see not only a reason for this but a path for Mayweather's stardom and becoming the crossover fighter he is now.
going back to the "offers" Arum made to Floyd. At that time it was clear that Mayweather and Ellerbe wanted nothing to do with Bob both as a promoter and in future endeavours. He had Al Haymon now advising him and realized the best way to crossover into the mainstream was to rid himself of Bob, who had a strained relationship with De La Hoya (whom Floyd wanted to fight) and no way possible a fight with DLH would happen with Bob as his promoter. Now Bob, in a last ditch effort, tells Mayweather that he will offer him his biggest payday to face a guy under contract with Arum: Tony Margarito. Bob knew that even if he offered 8 to May, Tony would take FAR less (around a million) and keep the fees of the promoter all to himself since it would be an in house fight. PPV sales could have been lukewarm and it still would have generated a modest profit for Bob and everyone involved. However, Bob's main plan was to lace the offer with options on Floyd for I think 2 fights and a rematch clause. In other words Floyd would have been stuck with Bob for at least two fights, possibly three, if he chose to take the quick cash. Now 8 million is nothing to scoff at but when you see what Floyd did with his career post offer it is clear he made the right choice. He made so much more post offer that the business side of boxing will use this as the benchmark as to how to market a fighter
and yes once and for all he DID make 8 million and one cent for Baldomir CONFIRMED by Dan Goossen in print and to me post Rahman Toney II presserComment

Lets see, fighting a younger, stronger in their prime opponent who isn't very well known for less money, or fighting an older, past prime former superstar of the sport for more money.
You decide.Comment

If Margarito was the Ring Champion some how. Would Mayweather have fought him if Baldomir and Margarito switched roles?Comment
