When he somehow finally got into the ring with a solid pro, like Tarver he just got exposed. Made the mistake of getting in the ring with another good fighter like Glen Johnson and got rocked. If he was that weight drained from the heavyweight fight wouldnt he have gotten KOed in his first fight back? Not the second and third.

One thing anyone would have to agree on, he lost to the two best fighters he fought in like ten years, prolly since the 1994 Toney fight. Thier were only so many Glen Kellys out there. I dont think it was a coincidence he lost to the two best fighters he fought since prolly 94.

He looked like **** the first Tarver fight. Like ****. He was nothing like the old roy in that fight. Just watch, he was leaning against the ropes with no movement. Then he fought in spurts. nothing like the old roy.

I think James Toney was a better fighter than Hopkins, but it is pretty funny that you think a 28 year old Hopkins was a decade before his prime.

Hopkins words not mine. He always said he was very green in 1993 when he fought Jones. Anybody agrees on that.

The Toney win was great, no doubt about that. But you have to agree in Jones "prime" from 94 to 03. His competition was a joke.

94 to 03. So James Toney, Virgil Hill, an undefeated Montell Griffin, Otis Grant, John Ruiz, Antonio Tarver, Clinton Woods, etc. These guys were all jokes?

I said the Toney win was good, so of course Jones ducks him in a rematch. Same with Hopkins. But in the bigger scheme of things the win over a older Hill was not great, he was coming off that loss to Michalczewski. Jones knew what he was doing when he fought Ruiz(one of the worst HW champs ever) but it was a good win. Woods and Grant are okay at best. He straight up lost to Tarver 3 times IMO.

1 - How many years did the weight loss take off of his career?

I don't think he recovered until the third Tarver fight, but he was too scared to open up.

2 - Instead of going to light heavy, could he have went to Cruiser and been the undisputed champ, and beat Bell or Mormeck or Vassily Jirov, who I believe was the champ at the time?

Fights at cruiserweight probably would have helped him because he would have been able to gradually move back down to 175, a fight between him and Jirov at the time would have been very interesting.

3 - Could he have beaten another heavyweight at the time?

I think he could have beaten the likes of Byrd, Toney or Holyfield. The smaller heavyweights.

4 - Did the weight loss make his chin weaker and sap his legs which led to the trio of losses?

Definitely, I'm not sure about the third Tarver fight though because he just looked scared to open himself up but when he did, he looked pretty good.

5 - Does Jones finally feel the way he used to feel now that he has gotten his weight back in check, or is the damage of the weight loss already finished him?
And if not, what kind of shot do you give him against Calzaghe?

Even though I think he has recovered, I don't think he has fully recovered and his legs don't look the same as they used to be. I don't think he's finished but he's definitely not the same.

I give him a chance against Calzaghe but I wouldn't bet on him.
