what's your evaluation of tommy as a fighter?

I considered him a true contender. Many knock him but he did have some good wins. He had too many defensive holes to become a real champion but he was an exciting fighter to watch. He was just unfortunate to be around at a time when there were a lot of really good heavyweights.

i know and his chin didnt help either. but when i look back at it, that guy had it all. he had exposure from the rocky film (however bad it may have turned out), he had bill cayton as his manager, good looking kid, some crazy left hook. on his way up he easily was just as menacing as tyson was just walking through journeyman, leaving body bags behind.

lol yeah i saw that. i hear that he wants to pull of a foreman. he talks about being active, but his only victim was a soft touch along with some MMA dude. didnt see either fight, but the press wasnt kind to the duke

Yeah his left hook was brutal, no question about it. I don't think he had a bad chin, but he just left it open for a lot of other heavy hitters to land on. He did have the world at his feet. Coming back from that terrible knockout by Mercer was a huge feat in itself. He was an offensive dynamo though.

To be fair, I don't think anybody has seen those fights. There's no airing of his HIV fights on television. You don't wanna risk him getting cut and having like a chain reaction in the ring.

he did have one fight in japan after his HIV got leaked out and no one wanted him in the US. but it was never clear from the start whether the virus reports were accurate. there's like a dozen of different conclusions which show up negative and positive, i dont know which one to pick.
