I feel the same way, British boxers seem way too overrated and overhyped . . . i watched the uk feed of hatton-lazcano and the commentary was soooo biased they were driving me crazy. they didn't acknowledge hatton's getting badly hurt twice and said nothing of the ref saving him . . . if it was on HBO, shotime or espn the commentators would of said that wasn't right and the fighter may have been saved unfairly.
hatton, haye definitely overhyped/rated . . . i like Calzaghe a lot i find him to be a real genius in the ring and i like his control, level of activity and excitement he brings to his fights. he may slap but i believe his slaps are harder then they look.
and lets not forget overhyped overrated Junior Witter who on paper and with the amount of hype he had should never have lost to bradley.Last edited by -Boxzilla-; 06-18-2008, 10:17 PM.Comment

I completely agree, green k for youI think there is a little bit of a difference though. I'm Australian and I will support all the Australian fighters but I don't necessarily think they are great fighters. There is a difference between support and how you rate a fighter. Not saying you do it, but from my experience British people overrate their sportsmen period. They are simply blinded by their alliegences. My entire extended family is British so I can identify with this train of thought. Not saying it is a bad thing either, it's just the way it is.Comment

See the thing about Hatton and Haye is that they have both unified their weight classes, what more do you need to do to get respect?hatton, haye definitely overhyped/rated . . . i like Calzaghe a lot i find him to be a real genius in the ring and i like his control, level of activity and excitement he brings to his fights. he may slap but i believe his slaps are harder then they look.

This is probably the best reply I've ever read on BoxingScene.
It's true, for some reason people believe the UK is the size of the US. When infact it's probably just the size of 1 big American state.
So if you take the ratio factor into consideration, the Brits produce some very good fighters.

Witter was not hyped by the British, he was hyped by fatyanks looking for a stick tyo beat Hatton with.
Oh and Tunney doesn't like Haye because Haye is mixed race which is a nono to racists like him. Although he is actually heterosexual.
I don't get the beef with Haye. He's huge punching guy who is a bit chinny but he still goes all-out for the knockout. What's not to like?Comment
