Hatton was ranked number 1 by the WBC at Welterweight. That technically counts as a defense. It actually delt with his mandatory that year too.

What sanctioning fees? If the guy is not defending the belt, the organization makes no money. There is no money for the WBC to make if he fights De La Hoya at 150. Since 2006, he only paid fees on one fight, with Hatton. If anything they are losing money by allowing the belt to stay with "Money"
Yes they can. They did it with Pavlik at 166 against Taylor. They charged Pavlik 25,000 dollars.....

ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY. Offcourse WBC wants a cut on the de lahoya- pbf fight if it will push through. If they will strip pbf of the belt, then the dela hoya-pbf will be a non-title bout. WBC together with the rest of the alphabet orgs just want to suck up every prize fight.

Wasnt he "retired" before the Hatton fight??? its just a very obvious ploy to generate even more interest and more money for his next fight.

if that turns out not to be the case and he is out of the ring for good then i will post a public apology to him and all his nuthuggers on here

aahhh the great alphabet titles...I guess he will keep that title for the next few years then. Like he says, he won't strip PBF until PBF himself sends a letter saying he is retired....what a load of ****

Mayweather was loyal to the WBC and all the belts he really proud of is the WBC.

it not a mystery that the Mayweather is a WBC fighter. Even if you are very good it is pretty hard to have a title shot in less than a year or when going up in weight you get to fight a belt.

Even when he won Zab Judah he got the IBF and vacanted straight away

"Chicken" Floyd indeed has a special relationship with the WBC.

Not only does he not need to defend his title even after two years, he can remain champion even after retiring.

But they are going to strip Joe Calzaghe if he doesn't defend by September.

Why do you seem more mad at PBF who is retired than you do at the WBC? None of what the WBC is doing is PBF fault. **** is crazy

Hatton was not ranked at 147-Pounds. This has been cleared up time and time again.

Pavlik fought Taylor for some WBC medal. There was a lot of heat on the WBC for charging Pavlik 25K for a meaningless medal that had nothing to do with nothing.

Like Sulaiman said, all PBF's belts except 1 from the IBF have been WBC belts. He's in tight wit those crooked bastards, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did let him stay champ for a while longer. Sucks cuz I'd like to see Berto use the WBC belt to step his game up.
