serves me right to base my opinion on bert sugar's comments.

lacy has ko power that's why. i guess his corner figured he could land one. joe just made him look silly.
But still, when your fighter hasn't landed anything meaningful and is taking a bad beating, I would have stopped the fight.

Duran gave Moore one of the worst beatings I've ever seen though.

The two Japanese judges scored 4 rounds even in that fight. That is just beyond me. Duran-Moore was a savage beating. Probably the worst I've ever seen.

I watched this fight live on TV. I thought Davey Moore was going to kill DUran. Duran fought so well that night and just had too much experience and will for Moore.

I remember the crowd going crazy afterward.

They were going crazy before the fight, chanting "Duran" and then after they sang him happy birthday. Moore was a big favorite,no one thought Duran would win.

It's one of my favorite fights ever. Duran absolutely ruined Moore, who was extremely talented and thought to be the next man. He was an outstanding amateur, winning four New York Golden Gloves. I don't know why that fight wasn't stopped earlier. His mom and girlfriend both fainted ring side while watching that slaughter. I guess that ref wanted Davey dead or something.

Duran gave him a beating for all 8 rounds. they could've stopped it earlier. In retrospect, maybe picking a dude that was 14-0 over a ATG with 76 wins was a mistake on alot of our parts.

That's true but Moore had won 9 in a row via KO over some decent competition and Duran had looked awful in a few recent fights, outside of Cuervas. He was way above his best weight, looked shot, and fighting a prime fighter who was the real deal. Davey had heart like a mother****er. That was the most brutal body attack I've ever seen.

True. Like everyone I talked to thought Moore was going to end Duran's career. That seemed like the reason so many watched it-would this be Duran's final fight.

The SRL and Barkley wins are more remembered because of their significance, but for me, this was an incredible performance because it totally changed the narrative post NO Mas.

Agreed. The sharpest performances of Duran in my opinion were the Moore and Palomino victorys. He absolutely put on an inside fighting clinic on both of those men,who were excellent fighters.

I forgot about Palomino. My only problem with duran was the fact he ate, drank and partied himself up the scale. He'd have fights where he didn't prepare as he should but he put it all together when he came to MSG.
