Who's higher on your ATG list, Mayweather or Whitaker?

Funny you put it that way, isn't it?
Vargas? Manfredy? Gatti? Augustus? Baldomir?
LMFAO Those are not even Mayweather's top 7 wins
Corrales, Castillo, De La Hoya, Hernandez, Chavez, Judah, Hatton, AND whats the funniest thing is your putting whitakers best opponents versus mayweather's worse to compare them, man your biased as hell when it comes to pernell whitaker, im done here.
Ramirez < Corrales
Chavez > Castillo
Nelson > Hernandez
Paez > Chavez
McGirt > Judah
Vazquez > Hatton
Haugen < Oscar
Is that better for you? Chavez and Nelson were better than ANYONE on Mayweather's record fella.
This continues. You'll probably cry about this too.
Mayweather > Baldomir
Pendleton > Corley
Pineda > Augustus
Hurtado > N'Dou
Rivera > Vargas
The guy consistently fought better competition despite losing the back end of his career to drugs and alcohol. You can even fix those names so they look better for you, Whitaker still beat better competition.Comment

I'm far from a Floyd Hater. ****, I've been called a ****ing ***** before on this board...
Maybe I'm just seeing Pea's career through rose colored glasses. I never said Pea by landslide. I think Floyd is a truly awesome talent. Whatever...Comment

If Mayweather got a draw against DLH you would have claimed it should have counted as a win. Don't lie
Yes and that's the best part of Mayweather's career (130). I don't even criticize him for not fighting Casamayor/Fretias because he couldn't make weight and he actually called them out.
And Whitaker defended his titles 9 times at Lightweight, and that includes him unifying. Floyd never unified against Garcia or any of the other 130 champs (though Corrales should have kept his ****ing title)
Oh and beating Rafeal Pineda is better then beating Arturo Gatti at 140.
For Parody since it got bumped back a page.
You guys go great lengths to put down one the greatest fighters you will ever see.Comment

He won the title in it, he refused to defend in it, its a pretty big hit on his legacy and claims of greatness. When you look at it non biased, Floyd really only ruled 2 divisions. As for your last question, real or not, he fought there and beat the bummiest of champs to claim the title.
Avoided the rest of the division. I don't make this **** up, its fact.
Also, it isn't Floyd's fault that these so called "bums" were the champions of 140 and 147 when Floyd got there.Comment

Yes, but you have to agree that supposedly his biggest "win" against and undefeated, prime JCC, was actually a draw. And regardless of what kind of nose candy Whitaker was indulging in during the DLH fight, he did lose to him. This "*******" excuse is just that, an excuse. All it shows is an undisciplined fighter who was not strong enough to resist the temptation of dirty drugs, even if it meant that his career would suffer. If Whitaker wasn't on the drugs and he beat De La Hoya, he would be a clear cut ladder rung above Floyd. But the drugs in his life make this a very very close contest.
Plus, I haven't used any ******* excuse for Pea. He was OLD when he fought Oscar. He had gotten dropped TWICE in his previous fight and struggled to beat Wilfredo Rivera in their first encounter. HE WAS OLD. And still won in the eyes of many.
You act like the DLH fight is some big deal. Whitaker was - EVEN THEN - considered one of the greatest ever for his wins over a TON of champions, contenders, and fellow great fighters!
I can't even believe I'm defending this guy or having to explain this. Look, nobody is a fan of Whitaker's. But we all give him his just due - and just because I'm a huge fan of Roy Jones or Evander Holyfield, doesn't mean I put them ahead of Pea either!Last edited by IMDAZED; 06-16-2008, 10:25 PM.Comment
