    Jones/Calzaghe- the power issue

i see a lot of people saying joe will win by a ud or a late ko.

joe can definitely ko people- but he does it by accumulation of punches- i don't think anyone here would argue that joe has one-punch ko power.
    he doesn't...

roy isn't what he used to be- but i honestly feel he is a much harder puncher than joe, and he's also very fast. i just think it's silly to write jones off against calzaghe. jones doesn't have to worry as much with joe about some kind of hammer punch putting him to sleep out of nowhere. i think roys counter punches are quickly becoming an underrated factor in this fight.

i also don't feel joe could knock roy out, he won't connect enough.

but joe does have a great chin. should be a great fight

for the record im not even a huge jones fan, but he isn't going to be easy work for joe by any means if you ask me

Johnson isn't that great of a puncher either but he managed to knock Jones out.

I agree though that Jones still has very good speed and pretty good power.

That could've been the case, I guess we'll find out if they fight.

I actually think it's a pretty hard fight to call, I'm just giving the edge to Cotto because he is the better boxer, he punches shorter, has better footwork and movement and I think or at least I hope he is smart enough to stick to a gameplan when the going gets tough.

But I can also see Margarito just overwhelming him with the amount of punches he throws with power, it'll be interesting to see how Cotto deals with the constant pressure.

Right, I can't pick a winner... if I HAD too, I would go with Cotto as well, for the same reasons you said... hes a lot quicker, good quick jab, better footwork... the problem comes when, you start hitting someone with everything you got, and they keep coming forward as if your punches mean absolutely nothing... and thats what Margarito seems to bring.

I definitely felt Cintron was the better boxer in their fight, but we all see how that turned out. With that said, I think Cotto is a better boxer than Kermit... but still. Anything could really happen in this fight...

I can't even bet on it.

That's why I'm hoping Cotto will be able to stick to his gameplan when the going gets tough because it is going to get rough and tough in there for him against Margarito.

Cotto is a better boxer than Cintron and honestly, Manny Steward gave him some bad instructions during the fight, telling him to go forward and push Margarito back, which put him right in Margarito's line of fire. By the time Steward told Cintron to box, it was too late, not to say Cintron would've beaten Margarito but you never know.

That's true, Manny wanted Kermit to out-tough Margarito. In order to be successful you need to know your strengths and your weaknesses, as well as your opponents. Manny should of known they weren't going to out Balls Margarito, he should of told him to not stop moving, and keep a quick jab in his face. Use Margarito's weaknesses against him.

Instead he told him to walk towards the windmill, instead of away from it. Bad move.

Exactly, that was probably the worst possible strategy for Cintron.
