will Calzaghe be Overated if he loses to Roy Jones JR given that Roy is shot to bits and Calzaghe struggled badly with a 43 year old Bernard Hopkins and arguably did not win the fight ?

    Simple answer, yes.

If Joe is as good as I think he is then no way he should lose to Jones now.

Yes, when Roy retires him everyone will realise how over rated he is.

its a good question my friend .... arguably yes he will BUT he still has some decent names on his resume and as yet remains undefeated ....mmmm difficult thing to ponder. Joe is a fabulous boxer and will remain #1 in the hearts of his die hard fans but those who know about the sport would have those seeds of doubt planted.
no one can blame the guy for wanting to milk his cash cow but me, id rather see him face a live opponent and lose (ie Kelly Pavlik etc) than another BHop faded legend.

see everybody is thinking what happens to Roy status if he beats Joe but are failing to point out where that leaves Joe's legacy

It would look very bad for Calzaghe if he loses to Jones at this stage of Jones' career.

If Roy beats Joe then god alone knows where he will be on the ATG list. Pretty high I would say.

I guess for Calzaghe it would simply mean that he wasn't quite the top P4P guy I and many others think he is.

There is always the chance that Calzaghe might be getting too old himself, it happens to everyone, but as I've posted before, he'll only have himself to blame if he gets in the ring in those circumstances.

in a way the people who criticise Calzaghe for not getting in the ring against Pavlik should think how much courage it took for Calzaghe to face Mikkel Kessler a guy who was undefeated who looked like a very good technical Boxer and a good puncher against the like of Andrade ,Beyer ,Mundine and a guy who looked like he had all the tools on his side to take Joe Calzaghe's record he also had youth on his side over Calzaghe

if Joe had lost to Kessler the knives really would have been out for him and he would have been seen as completely overated and flattered by the Lacy performance especially give the way Lacy had bounced back from that defeat struggling with the likes of Manfredo

i think a loss to Roy would be disastress for Calzaghe it would not quite leave him at the point where if loses he would be frowned upon the way he could have been had he lost to Kessler but it would not be far off IMO ,Joe has set the bar so high for himself now that people are disapointed when they dont see dominence i think that is why people where upset with the B Hop fight

Pretty much. It would ruin his legacy if he can't beat the wayyyyyy past him prime old man.
