Let me get this straight people think the guy who was knocked down by bernard hopkins and hit hopkins with maybe 5 real punches is going to beat rjj by tko/ko? Roy jones is probably faster then calzaghe even at his age and hits harder it is really hard to believe calzaghe can win this fight.

Roy is just not what he used to be, and he can't keep up Calzaghe's pace, not even close. The last fights I've seen of his, he fights for maybe a minute of each round and then takes the rest off. YOu CAN'T do that will Calzaghe, nobody can. You either fight the entire round, or you lose. Hell, most of those he's beaten fight the entire round and lose anyway.
This fight will turn out one of two ways. Roy will either lay back most of the fight, hoping to potshot and counter enough to win a close decision while Joe keeps his own work rate up to normal and wins a wide UD, or Roy tries to keep up with Calzaghe's pace, gets gassed by the 6th or 7th, and gets TKO'd late (I'm guessing 11th). Either way, there is NO WAY for RJJ to win this, short of knocking Calzaghe out before the 4th round, and you can talk **** about Joe all you want, that man has a granite chin. Never even been hurt, and only on his shorts twice(?), both just flash KD's with no lasting damage at all.
Wait until after the fight and then dig this thread up and see who called it right.Last edited by Chase8400; 06-16-2008, 03:36 PM.

In my opinion, Joe was lucky that the fight was not a draw. Calzaghe is great, but there are kinks in his armor. One being that he keeps his gloves low. Roy will make this more of a problem that it has been before w/ his hand speed. Next, Joe rely's on a speed advantage and awkward angles of punches. Jones is the very best at that and will show that styles make fights. If Hopkins makes Joe look horrible and slow, how do you think that Jones will make Joe look? Calzaghe is not Tarver who has 1 punch KO power and Jones will not have that fear of getting clocked going in. Jones is way faster and has more power than B-hop with the same ring smarts. Expect a way tougher fight than you are leading on about. Trust me. Jones will get Calzaghe's respect when he feels that first "real" LHW punch. Hopkins has not KO'd anyone sinve ODLH , who was a welterweight who moved up and still dropped Joe. Jones has hurt the last 3 fighters he has been in with. Joe cannot say that. He never hurt Manfredo with his workrate and he never hurt B-hop. He did hurt Kessler with a body shot, but I bet he will not hurt Jones with one. See the Trinidad fight for proof of that. Jones laughed at the powerful body shots that Tito sat down on. If Jones dont win by KO, I will be suprised. You saw it here first. Jones will beat Calzaghe either by decision or KO/TKO. Been saying it for months now. Bad style matchup for Joe, IMO.

You have to be a better fighter then Joe stylistically to give Roy problems.
I just don't see the invalid being effective with those amateur punches against RJJ, he wasn't even effective against Hopkins.
Hopkins beat himself by not throwing enough while still being competitive with his defense alone.

As far as the rest of your drivel, you tried your best spin to make Cazlaghe's victories look good while downplaying RJJ. Two can play that game.
What I saw from joe in his recent fights is further exposure of what will happen once he goes up against a great fighter with multi-dimensional abilities in his arsenal. It showed in the Hopkins fight, it's not what Joe did, it's what Hopkins didn't do that mattered in the end. Hopkins was over the hill and had no offense after a few rounds.... but still was competitive enough with his defense alone to almost steal the decision.....making Joe look like a tard.
RJJ is not over the hill ENOUGH to lose to a amateur throwing fighter like Czlzaghe, even now. Stylistically this is a bad fight for Joe. Just wait and see....and both you and joe will think to yourselfs why he didn't pick a easier to hit Pavlik for his last fight.

If Glencoffe Johnson can put leather on RJJ, Calzaghe will be pasting his ass with left hands all night. Count on it. I can't get over you guys that refuse to believe Calzaghe can compete with any skilled American fighters. I can't figure out whether it's arrogance, or just bias.

He suffered the first knockout of his career and was punch shy against Johnson......PERIOD. Everybody knows he not only wasn't at his best that night BUT also scared to throw punches being too defensive because of fear of getting knocked out again.
He is past that now. He is old but not washed up enough and will counter Calzaghe all night long. The few shots Hopkins landed in the first round won't be nothing compared to what RJJ will lay on him.
