Well I agree with you in part but the truth is he should have retired a while back. Now a days he IS messing the welterweights possible fights by sticking his nose and he WON'T fight Winky. IF he fights Cotto/Margarito he is getting a beating and Mora won't last to his belt to long so, yeah he had a great career but it's time for him to be a spectator...Comment

I call it like I see it. In this case, Oscar's doing the right thing. As far as him "messing up divisions" - blame the guys chasing the money rather than earning their keep on their own. It's not Oscar's fault that he's popular and that there's a line around the globe waiting to fight him.
I don't disagree that he should either stick to fighting or promoting, and that the sport may actually be better off once he's retired - the best have to fight the best, but at the same time make a name for themselves rather than get rich off of others.Comment

DLH vs Margy and Cotto winner would be a slaughter
It would be like Ali vs Holmes. it would be sad to see DLH legacy end like thatComment

Well, we hope. It's didn't happen with Mosely unfortunatly. Cotto or Margarito as a star would be great because there exciting, pressure fighters BUT there beatable so their marketability might be damaged if they do get beat.Comment

That was a great read, thanks!
You know, boxing fans can say what they will about Oscar, but one thing is for certain - DeLaHoya has fought pretty much the best fighters out there for more than a decade. The list of BIG names and Titles won is a long one, and he has done more for the sport of boxing than anyone else in his era.
Granted, he came out on the short end of some rather bad decisions from the judges, and he may have had a gift win himself in some eyes, and I myself was not at all happy with the Hopkins fight nor the Mayweather fight.
But the bottom line is Oscar DeLaHoya has at least shown the intestinal fortitude to fight them all.
That is something you cannot say about too many fighters these days, certainly not a Mayweather, or a Calzaghe, who combined, don't have as many big name fights on their resumes as Oscar does.
Regardless of who he fights for a swansong - he goes into it knowing full well he is probably going to take a beating from a young gun. I respect that...Comment
