Do you think James Toney can win a heavyweight belt?

his upcoming fight with rahman should anwer a lot. both are after the same thing. question is

despite the layoff, and his weight problems, can a very focused, in shape and active toney win a title belt at this age and stage?

if he had a win over rahman, maybe another ranked contender, hell even someone like David Haye!!! then he would be ready to challenge

we got klitschko, chagaev, peter as champions. Toney already fought peter and was robbed in the first fight.

    can toney do it?

i wouldnt mind seeing tua again. hopefully he'll go after witherspoon-arreola winner like he promised. i wouldnt mind seeing him against haye

i would actually match haye against any 'name' heavyweight at this point because that's what he needs right now, names to season his record a little

I never saw it either but a bunch of the press (or at least I recall) had Batchelder ahead. I also heard it was a snoozefest; however, there were .gifs of him getting rocked by that guy which said "owned" on it.

i want a tua-haye fight too. i think haye ud tua fairly easy and he better hope fairly "boring". any excitement in a haye-tua fight will not be good for haye.

tua just does not have the stamina or speed to keep up with haye as long as haye don't do anything ******.

low risk very high name reward for haye. but like others point out "what if haye gets caught". i don't think tua can catch haye with anything significant anymore but if he does it'll be good indication of how good haye's chin is. i hope haye's chin is good enough. a good enough chin and david can get pretty far in this division right now.

No kidding. The guy almost lost to Zuri Lawrence for crying out loud! A guy with what 40+ fights? And 0 KO's.

exactly, tua wont be unarmed for this fight, and there'll always be a puncher's chance. i dont know about this chin business, but haye been draining himself to make weight and that might have an impact. who knows how he'll handle a punch with a healthy body. we'll see. but i know that chin or no chin, if tua can time a good left hook, if he could get that second of an opening, and land it, you'll go down.
