people think roy is an athlete with gloves and nothing more
now that his athleticism isnt the same... hes done...
well no... if uve ever heard him commentate you would know his knowledge is EXTREMELY deep in figuring fights out, and depicting the outcome, and selecting the right choices a fighter must make to win the fight...
Roy has a lot of tools in his arsenal, not just his hands, but in his mind... hes not a pushover, and nobody will beat him, with ease.
go ahead, let the tarver and johnson comments roll in now...

that is a great point
Roy does'nt get the credit he deserves in that respect he is such an intelligent fighter when commentating he breaks down the action as it is unfolding before your eyes he and Al Bernstien are the best Boxing anylists IMO
there are many times when Roy is telling Alton Merkerson what he is going to do in the fight

Rope - a - dope = another L
let joe throw his flurries, and then...................................... WHAM!
WHAM BAM WHAM
roys LEGS are the biggest thing that has deteriorated, so staying in the middle of the ring IMO gives the advantage to joe... staying on the ropes, equalizes that advanatage, and now its just whose better with the hands, and ill take roy all day

I dont think Roy has enough gas in the tank to handle Joe's workrate. He'd have to really tag him with some clean punches, because when he sits back on the ropes to catch a breather, Calzaghe will be throwing punches from all angles.

tarver was competitive with a past prime roy that was too weight drained during the 1st fight.
tarver got a lucky punch in the 2nd fight. i didn't even know guys who throw punches with their eyes closed could get so far as a professional boxer.
glencoffe also had the luck of catching a past prime roy and more important a roy coming back too soon from his first real loss and even worse a knockout.
tarver is vastly overrated and i put him in the same category as vernon forrest. lesser fighters who gained their names through being bad matchup for more much , much better fighters than themselves are. tarver while not being much younger also benefited from fighting a past prime roy with a lot of miles on him while being relatively fresh for his age for having a relatively small amount of fights.
glencoffe is a tough , durable and solid pressure fighter who is vastly underrated due to catching a lot of bad breaks and bad judging throughout his career. prime for prime he losses to roy but beats antonio in my opinion.
end of tarver and johnson comments.
