Interesting Discussion: Did the Quintana loss have net worth for Williams?

    I was thinking about this.

If Williams had beaten Quintana the first time, it probably would have just been a win over an okay dude, who beat an overrated prospect in Joel Julio.

But, he lost the first fight in a fairly close decision, which he looked bad in, but he did have moments of competitiveness and won more than a few rounds.

Then he comes out and blows Quintana out.

Even though he got a loss, do you think Williams's stock is higher now that people put so much worth in Quintana after Williams beat him, and then Williams came out and destroyed Quintana?

    An interesting discussion for sure.

His stock is higher. I didn't think the first fight was close and he extinguished Quintana real quickly the second time around.
He now has 2 wins over two guys in the division who are in the top 5.

yezzir... i think it is, if he were to just beat quintana by decision in the first fight and had moved on... his stock wouldnt be as high as it would as losing to a dec then blowing him out

THe 1st round KO after getting outboxed in the first fight was what elevated Williams worth, and erased the 1st fight as a fluke.

If Williams got a UD or a SD in the rematch it wouldn't have been as good a victory.

it almost seems like if williams would of beaten quintana in the rematch by UD instead of first round KO the haters would have less to say...

they just say "lucky punch" where if he had won a Decision, then you could say they outboxed each other

It raised his stock in my eyes.

And my eyes only see the truth

common man! it's rude to have won bets on your sig and telling people you own them, your picks are correct all the time?

It raised his stock simply because he showed how well he can rebound after a defeat and when he comes in motivated he gets the job done, but that's just my opinion

Imagine if Floyd knocked out JL Castillo in their second fight.
