A New Possible Theory On Floyd "Retiring".

The fight versus oscar de la hoya (rematch) has to be the biggest payday in boxing today.

If you take into consideration how much floyd loves money it would not make ANY sense (or cents) to retire BEFORE the oscar rematch which made me think of why floyd would pull from the fight (whether he's really "retiring" or just avoiding this fight at this time).

What i think could be true is that MAYBE floyd believes if he pulls from the fight oscar will most likely fight the winner of cotto v. margarito...the cotto/margarito fight will now determine the new true champion at 147.

Floyd may believe oscar can beat EITHER cotto OR margarito...

so floyd sits it out; oscar fights the winner and floyd hopes oscar wins (to become the champ at 147)...

then floyd "comes out of retirement" to fight oscar for that crown of best at 147...

I think floyd may believe a fight with oscar is EASIER for him than a fight with a younger cotto or margarito...

it could be an easy way to raise the payday and a easy way to keep his champ of 147 status.

possibility? or do i have too much time on my hands?

I think floyd realisitically thinks hes the best fighter in the world and oscar cotto and marg cantbeat him either way... in floyds head, thats what it is... i think right now hes sitting on MILLIONS and cant quite find the motivation to get up at 4am like he used to train..

          i can agree with that...

i mean if i had HALF or even a QUARTER of what floyd has in the bank i would have retired long ago...

but i would have already blown all my money and came back for more fights...

Its true though...I remember working at just some crap grocery store making $8.90 an hour...i was going something on the side and pulled down like 3K in about 2 weeks so i quit my job...haha

          so i can understand that.

stop with the ****ing theories already ****!!

no one gives a **** what your or everyones theory is.. the fact is none of us know whats going on and if he retires for good then he retires for good.. if he comes back then he comes back.. and leave it at that..

no need for all the speculation.

to me it just makes sense as a possibility...

i mean he could fight cotto or margarito but the money wont be there...

if oscar were to win over the winner of cotto/margarito floyd would keep his status and get a far bigger payday all in one fight instead of two.

but to me it just doesnt make sense (retiring or just playing the retiring game) BEFORE one of his biggest paydays ever, considering how much he loves money.

if it doesnt do better in terms of money than the first fight it will still more than likely be one of his top 3 paydays ever in the sport so it just doesnt add up.

Floyd is not an idiot, he knows the possibilty of Oscar beating either is very low. When was the last time Oscar fought such a dangerous opponent at 147?

Oscar is probably going to lose to whoever wins this fight, and they will probably beat Oscar more impressively than Floyd did. This means Floyd's greatness is called into question, and he pretty much HAS to fight them, his ego won't allow him not to.

Either this is a clever ploy so he can earn more by fighting the winner of Cotto-Margarito, or he may just be forced into fighting the very man he retired to avoid.

I think margarito is the weakest link in this whole theory...

if margarito hurts cotto and beats him i say BOTH floyd AND/OR oscar can beat him. Margarito's style (1200+ punches a fight and iron chin) make him a tough opponent but either or oscar can easily beat him...

he's so easy to counter...he comes inside without a jab or any other punch for that matter...and he tends to back straight up...oscar and floyd would counter him silly.

Cotto is the difficult fighter for both...because he can box and brawl...he can work the body...comes in behind a jab; etc. his chin is questionable BUT oscar nor floyd at this point in their careers are really stellar punchers in terms of power...so that could be a difficult fight or either floyd or oscar.

I think margarito loses to cotto (unless cotto's ego gets in the way he feels he must fight toe to toe on the inside...if that happens margarito knocks him out)...so i think it comes down to oscar v. cotto.

THEN the winner of that (which i feel in my opinion is WAY too close of a fight to predict.) would make floyd consider coming back to fight.

if oscar wins i expect floyd to come back and fight oscar in his last career fight to win back the crown of champ of 147...if cotto wins im not so sure mayweather makes the offer to fight him...unless floyd is backing off so cotto can fight oscar (and win) so cotto is now the big payday.

it just doesnt make sense for floyd to walk away RIGHT BEFORE a huge payday...makes no sense...or cents.

dont see dlh fighting cotto or margarito because they have the power to hurt him. mayweather is a safer fight for him .
some think this is a mayweather sham and that he's doing it to ratch up
                    publicity for dlh rematch.
yes...dont see floyd having the balls to fight cotto or marg!
