Are almost all undefeated retirees frauds?

I would say, Marciano included, except he did fight what he could in his weak era of the heavies. I mean, when you retire undefeated, if you didn't take on the best, it shows you avoided real competition. But even if you took on the best there was, there had to be someone that had your number, there had to be. Who actually retired undefeated, facing the very best in his division? I think no one. Maybe Calzaghe could be said, but there are afew he can still face.

why do you have to be a fraud? if Roy hadn't been DQed against Griffin and retired after fighting Ruiz, would you call him a fraud? people used to be all over him for not fighting DM among others, now they love him.

    everything changes in time.

in 5 years, Mayweather will be the most adored guy you've ever seen

History will still perceive his greatest win to be against Castillo. Then a big cloud will loom over the rest of his career for coninuing his career for another 6 years and only 1 fight in that 6 year time span was a legitimate challenge. And they'll question it even further if cotto also retires with a undefeated record but with a heftier resume against tougher, more relevant competition.

Castillo in 2002 > Mosley in 2007 in terms of challenges
        Judah in 2006 > Judah in 2007
Corrales in 2001 > Quintana, Margarito, Judah
De La Hoya in 2007 > Judah in 2007
Hatton in 2007 > Quintana, Margarito, Judah in 2007
        Corley in 2004 > Corley in 2005
Baldomir in 2006 > Pinto, Abdullaev
        Sosa in 2003 > Sosa in 2004

I mean we can do this all day long. There is no way Cotto's resume is as good as Mayweather's.

Um, Roy has losses, why are you even talking about him? Since he did get DQed and has losses, there is no assuming or what ifs. And no, Mayweather will never be the most adored guy you see. I think his legacy will go more and more downhill as people realize just who he really beat and where they were before he beat them. That tells a lot.

Yet you act like Cotto's career is any better? Why? Because he's fighting Margarito? Give me a break

marciano is no fraud. he fought the best but the era was weak like you said. floyd mayweather ducked and dodged the best and that is why this man will be remembered as fraud mayweather. he was fighting in the best division in all of boxing with many great fighters but he refused to fight this men and only looked for the easiest fights. i am so happy this coward has retired.

No Marciano is not, he fought everyone it's not his fault that the division was weak AND he fought guys that constantly outweighed him and were much bigger.

Ottke is a fraud but Mayweather isn't a fraud he just won't be remember as greatly as he COULD have been.
