Quintana deserves a rematch just as much as Williams

First among excuses could have been "Williams had an off night the first fight." Maybe even a valid excuse; but, having said that, what makes that excuse less valid on Quintana?

We've already seen Quintana dominate Williams.

Now we've seen Williams catch Quintana, and Quintana couldn't recover. I would definitely not call that domination -- as is always the case in boxing, one punch can end a fight or turn the tide which means that the best boxer wont always win.

So, like I said, Quintana deserves a rematch. You guys might not want to see it, and it's interesting how quickly people write off boxers just because they got KOed. Realize, however, that a KO and a clear UD are the same when it comes down to it, and the first is perhaps more telling of a boxers skill.

So why is Williams knockout more telling than Quintana's dominance of him the first fight?

Also, re****yalus needs to stop with his ridiculous analogy to the Montel/Jones fights. Jones was clearly beating Montel in the first fight and was on the way to knocking him out, but was DQed. Quintana dominated Williams the first fight and was looking fine in the second before he got caught flush and couldn't recover. Keep in mind that Paul weight drains himself to stay in a lower division and with 10+ pounds on Quintana at fight night means a lot.

Great post, Quintana does deserve a rematch, like Quintana said in the first fight, Williams should not overlook him. Just a quick acclaration, a KO isn't more telling of a boxers skills it's more telling of a boxer's power and ability to punch.

Carlos lost to convincingly to get an immediate reamtch. Fight against Cintron or Collazo, then take a 3rd fight wit Paul if he can get it.

Exactly. He goes from fighting a good 12 rounds to being flattened in half a round, and you guys want to see an immediate 3rd fight? Is that how Quintana should build his confidence? What happens if he is ko'd again, you Quintana fans are going to ask that man to retire??? A couple of confidence building fights, and he is back on track.

The difference being that Willimas had a rematch coming via written contract.

let me flip that. Quintana owns Williams for twelve rounds. easy by the way and you think it is smart to put "big will" in there with him again for #2? Well, it's easy to say yes because we now know the outcome, but let's say he lost #2? Where would his career at 147 been then?

I'm rarley impressed by 1st round knockouts anyways....maybe when you consistantly destruct your opponent within the three mins. and just take his will. but when your are getting hit flush and just happen to catch your opponent with a good "one" shot that he never recovers from....that doesn't move me much. I want a number #3!
