Please let this thread die here.
I would hope so if he does sign. And yes they do have the money to pay him. The Fertida(sp?) family are from here in Houston and are MULTI BILLIONaires. They have the money and it would be and investment. They have the money and would do it with out thinking twice.

EDIT: They own the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas.

I HIGHLY doubt Floyd signs with the UFC, but I've seen crazier.

I think the most obvious obstacle is the size difference. The UFC's lightest division is 155 and Floyd's ideal fighting weight is 147 right? Most of the guys in the 155 division walk around at over 170 pounds so he would be at a large size disadvantage. Obviously his hands would be unmatched, but throw in the reach advantage, leg kicks, clinch, 6 oz gloves and some dirty boxing and Floyd could face some problems even on his feet from the bigger opponents he would face at lightweight.

As for the 200 million figure, it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Look at Beckham's deal with the LA Galaxy, $250 million, but only a portion of it is salary from the MLS. The majority from sponsorship monies, merchandise percentages, etc.

Elite XC does 6+ million views from Kimbo on a Saturday night at 11:30 PM. Floyd Mayweather the focal point of a network deal with Fox would be HUGE. Floyd + UFC brand would be big business.

Zuffa also owns WEC which holds a 145 division. So if things don't work with something like say....Mayweather/Guida, there's still fights like Mayweather/Pulver or Mayweather/Swanson.

I agree with you about mayweather, but with that being said i dont think there is any way that signs with ufc. First of all boxing is VERY different from mma and i think kimbo is a good example to show how hard it is to get good at mma fast. Also, ufc does not have the cash to give him what he would want, there top top guys make no more than 2 mil a fight and floyd could have made over 10x that fighting oscar. Lastly, (and this is to be taken with a grain of salt because floyd could have been lying when he said it) he said that he didnt have the motivation to train for the fights anymore. If he didnt like training for boxing matches, he definitely wouldnt want to do the training for mma...

Not necessarily. I don't like MMA at all (except sometimes watching the flashy KOs...which are rarities). I don't see any entertainment in watching two men hugging eachother on the ground, or humping against the cage.

I know, here comes people defending MMA and calling me close minded etc.

I'm just making the point in that Boxing and MMA are very different and fans of either may not be fans of the other.
