Ike Quartey was one of the best welterweights of the 90's, which was a very good welterweight period. Alongside Oscar de la Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Sweet Pea Whitaker, that's pretty good company to be in the midst of.
It's a shame that he wasn't active enough or fighting the elite level of fighters that he should have been during the prime of his career. He could have left a much better legacy than he did.
This youtube video of Quartey hitting the pads is something else (props to On Fire). Even though he's about to be 37 a few months after this, he still has quick hands and nice technique. He doesn't throw as many combinations as he used to, but it was still amazing.
