    Ike Quartey hitting the pads

Ike Quartey was one of the best welterweights of the 90's, which was a very good welterweight period. Alongside Oscar de la Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Sweet Pea Whitaker, that's pretty good company to be in the midst of.

It's a shame that he wasn't active enough or fighting the elite level of fighters that he should have been during the prime of his career. He could have left a much better legacy than he did.

This youtube video of Quartey hitting the pads is something else (props to On Fire). Even though he's about to be 37 a few months after this, he still has quick hands and nice technique. He doesn't throw as many combinations as he used to, but it was still amazing.

If you look between rounds, BoxingScene's El Jefe de Jefe is standing on the ring apron taking pictures. He's wearing a light blue shirt.

Will he ever fight again? I feel like he has the style to come back and still be effective as long as he's not fighting at 160.

I wonder how differently the rest of his career would've gone if he'd gotten the decision over de la Hoya, or been able to get a fight with Trinidad.
