I regard FMJ soooo highly at SFW, that I say that he is on the VERY short list of the best 130ers of all time. And, if he was a 126er like in the Olympics, he would have been competitive with the legndary names.

Arguello is not on that same tier as Floyd. He would need some type of advantage. He would have none that I see.

You are talking about a guy who fought most of his career at 130-135, then went and beat top guys at 147 and 154. Floyd was a very speacial SFW.

well....are Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, or Barry Sanders any less great?

Also, remember that SRL fought a total of four guys. It just so happens that those four guys were awesome: Benitez, Duran, Hearns and Hagler.

Ray was in no rush to rematch Tommy.... or to fight Pryor.

130 has had some very good fighters conquer it. I do think Floyd is the best SFW though.

Oh beating a younger, heavier, stronger champion caliber fighter is no good for you huh? Well how about Bobby Chacon and Jim Watt? How about the other ex-champions and well regarded contenders he beat from 126 all the way up to 140?

Arguello is on that VERY short list of the best 130 pound fighters of all-time. Along with Azumah Nelson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Sandy Saddler, Flash Elorde and Floyd Mayweather. Many think he's the best to ever fight at that weight. I mean just look at the people he defeated at that weight:

            Limon
            Chacon
            Escalera (twice)
            Castillo
            Navarette

All by KO. And as for Arguello having no advantages, I've got one for you - POWER. Arguello was a murderous puncher as a result of his perfect technique and great leverage. He would definitely be capable of hurting and possibly stopping Mayweather if he hit him with the right shot. I just happen to think Floyd would be able to avoid taking a punch like that in a 12 round fight.

Arguello was a legitimate 3 division champion who could have been a 4 division champ had he not run into possibly the meanest 140 pounder of all-time. You think Mayweather would have lasted 14 rounds against Pryor? I mean he might have, but that's an indication of how great Alexis was. He went man up and threw hands with a prime Aaron Pryor for 14 rounds, and hurt him, before succumbing to punishment. Legendary ****.

If Floyd tired Tommy, he would finish Hearns with left hooks...a la Hatton and Corrales.
If Hearns found Floyd it's would be lights out, Tommy was a 15 round fighter. If you're basing it off the Leonard fight then I believe it was Lenards ability to hold the pace and throw the bombs, Hearns was damn near the perfect boxer at Welter and his chin wasn't as bad at the weight.

For me it would be a early KO for Hearns, I actually see SRL fairing worse that Hearns in a fight against FMJ but still winning. He'd stop Arguello though the same way Pryor did but with more sturdy planning as to not make it a war.
