He just trains local lads, he isnt feedie roch who trains just the top who have already been train and well accomplised fighters.

freddie roach trains up and comers. he trained nobodies to be bigtime. manny pacquiao is a good example.

trainers have ups and downs. what abotu freddie roach
he has lost alot as well, hopkins , de la hoya
etc .... you can't say whethr a trainer is good or not
its a matter of whether the trainer matches with a fighter
obviously for calzaghe he and calzaghe jnr are a good team.
you can have a great trainer matched with a great fighter
but they don't go well together. look at what happened
after steward teamed with lewis, they were unbeatable.
yet steward with jermaine taylor doesn't work so well

i like joe but his dad says dumb things. ricky's parents when you saw them made you like ricky. that's why so many americans rooted for ricky against floyd. enzo rubs me the wrong way like in a floyd sr. way.

Because the guy ISNT solid. The boy needs to learn to box instead of brawl with the quickness if he wants to rule the heavies because his jaw is made of cookie crumbs.

you make good points and obviously not being welsh/brit i don't see most of his work but i don't like him. his son is likeable enough. his dad not so much.

i still think joe is good because he was born that way. had nothing to do with his dad as a trainer. joe just has skills.

have you seen the heavy div lately? chin aside he's a solid as they get. i'm not saying he'll unify the division but he'll get a belt with smart moves by his management.

as far as the cookie crumbs , a brit told me (and i'll take his word 'cause he has seen haye more than i have being in the states) the chin problems is due to him cutting weight and his chin is not that bad. kinda like the cotto thing. he got rocked a lot at 140 by chop chop and torres but at 147 his chin is solid.

haye is okay. who are the titlist at heavy right now? aside from wlad he can probably beat the rest. as long as he's not dumb enough to stand in front of "HOOSH NNNYYYEEEXXXX" i think he takes him. peter is slower than molasses and wlad ruined the poor kid.

Enzo managed to get a limited but tough brawler who was small for his weight a legitimate title, in Gavin Reese.
Didn't hold it long, but still gave one of the best guys in the division a hell of a fight in losing it.

Lockett really only got the title shot because Enzo was the trainer, so he atleast got a major payday. Realistically he's a good regional level fighter who is a little small for the weight.

As for Maccarineli, Haye was just faster, sharper, bigger & more talented.
If he could of landed a bomb first, then things would of been different, but he didn't - the end.


You can only work with the talent you've got, & think that Enzo has done pretty damn good by these guys.
