Pavlik was just too big, and too solid for Lockett to stand up against. What do you base your statement on? The only reason to let it continue would've been if Lockett stood a chance of winning, or even ending the match on his feet. No punch he landed seemed to bother Pavlik, he was getting hurt by EVERY punch Pavlik landed, and was down 3 times already. The only possible outcome to this fight (short of Lockette borrowing a handgun from one of the "gangstas" at ringside) was a KO or TKO by Pavlik, most likely in brutal fashion, most likely doing irreparable damage both to Lockette and his career. So, should they ruin a guy just so you get to watch another 3 or 6 minutes of a horribly lopsided fight that can only end one way? Oh, sure, why not?

If the fight would've kept on, it would be borderline criminal. Someone needed to stop it before Lockett's brain turned into pudding. If Pavlik was a bit more athletic and fast he'd be untouchable. People say Pavlik is a real basic 1-2 kind of guy, but hey, he gets the job done. His consistency and focus are unparalleled in his division.

Kelly punched right through Lockett. Seriously it looked like he was blocking a bit but Kelly's right hand kept piercing through his guard. It should have been stopped. The way he was reacting to Kelly's power shots, you woulda thought someone shot him.
