    Close Call :)

In 1993 I was called to go to a particular city in New England (I would rather not say where) to spar with an up and coming contender (I would rather not say who) and I was picked up on a very busy street to be taken to the gym by a guy (I would definitely rather not say who) who was involved with the fighter...a guy that was also a reputed and feared mafia killer! I knew at the time he was a somebody but didn't realize how much of one until many years later when he made big news being jailed in the federal pen for some serious crimes, murder being among them.

I remember while we were driving that day he said something to the effect that Marvin "Hagler was not only overrated but he had questionable heart, too."

In my mind I was thinking, "HAGLER HAD QUESTIONABLE HEART??" I wanted to say, "Are you NUTS? Are you CRAZY? What would YOU know about HEART FOR FIGHTING?"

(I am very glad I didn't, believe me)

Wow, makes you think. I am always careful of people on the street as they could be carrieing anything...

Its a dangerous world. Your lucky you didnt get into an argument with him Ice!

EDIT- Out of interest, i was watching a documentary about Pernell Whittaker earlier and it had clips from the first McGirt fight (I think) and it was commentated by a John Scully, would that be you? Or just co-incidental?

It doesn't take a genius to work out why he didn't name the guy.

              Good job, asswipe.

No, it wasnt James Butler that I sparred with. Not that time or any other time. And yes I did the broadcasting for the first McGirt-Pea fight on ESPN Classic

So when is it your replacing Atlas?

You know what Ice. I think you'd be awesome on Showtime. That seems like an ideal fit for you especially ShoBox because you would have a good beat on upcoming fighters amateur careers and you could really point out how they can improve to make the big time.
