Yea but he beat the guy that beat herman ... twice. He last 17 rounds with a guy that outweight him by 20 pounds.

I was kind of surprised too about the hands down business. Its ok to do it...there are plenty of fighters who did it...but whats weird is that Wilde didnt seem to use that much head movement and actually still lunged in with punches at times while his hands are down. I dunno, that kind of screams at me that he would get hit with a right hand or left hook while hes doing that, but it never happened.

and I also think Louis was a fantastic puncher. but #1? ehhh...

thats good thinkin about the glove size. The glove size always throws me off when Im doing imaginary 'boxer vs. boxer' matchups in my head if theyre from different eras, because the smaller gloves change the way the fight goes and bigger gloves can slow a boxer down and lessen their power as well. it also hurts stamina, with bigger gloves

There was a newspaper report on wilde from the time he fought il find it later and it say something like his head moved ever so slightly when he fought to avoid your punches.

what the hell? haha. why IS he in the HOF then? he never even became a world champ. I know that there werent as many worthless belts as there are today, but I dont understand how boxrec could be missing important, big wins...

speaking of which, is Quarry in the HOF? hes one of those guys that wa really good, but never got his hands on a title. what a lousy era for him to fight in, haha.

Boxrec = don't believe everything you read on the Internet. They had simple things like Wilde's nationality wrong until last year.

its the only thing I have to go by. cant find anything about Conn otherwise, and so far I really havent heard why he deserved to get into the HOF.

well considering that Boxrec doesn't have his entire record we won't know who he beat. Which is a shame because there could've been some great fighters back in the early days that no one would have heard of.
