    Everybody is entitle to their own opinion but RJJ was the same fighter people were trying to hate on and i remember he said he would make you guy say that he is the best and that is what is happening now, It would be the same with Mayweather in the next 8 years or so..He would make people proclaim him to be the best of our era.

      I'll miss Floyd a lot more than I would ever miss his paranoid crybaby fans.

        Mayweather's motive for hanging-up the gloves is simple: He's quitting while he's ahead (translation: undefeated). Fear of getting his ass kicked by Cotto or any other stiff challenge he might have to face.

        Any undefeated career that ends (w/o death) before the standard set by Rocky Marciano with regard to number of bouts (49) is without merit. PBF's career will no crack the elite (top 10) p4p all-time list.

        I would not be surprised to see him attempt a comeback at some point (when he deems it "safe") in order to prove that unlike many of his predecessors, he can be succesful...

            This is what was said before his fights, afterwords it was a whole different story. But i don't think that's whyhe quit, he quit because he is honestly fed up with boxing. Otherwise he would take Oscar before he called it a career.

              people discredit floyd's wins because he didnt take the hardest roads. no one was asking for the Baldomir, Hatton, DLH fights like they are asking for the Cotto fight. Those fights, Floyd actively pursued.

              None of those fights had writers making articles about them on a daily basis, Floyd wasnt asked everywhere he went, "When are you going to fight Baldo/Hatton/DLH",

              when he fought Baldomir, you didnt see this in articles..

              "Floyd is fighting Baldomir, though fans are screaming for a Hatton fight"

              when he fought DLH, you didnt see this in articles..

              "Floyd is fighting Hatton, though fans are screaming for a DLH rematch"

              Cotto is the fight the boxing world wanted the most. To say that the boxing world would turn around and discredit a fight they wanted to happen so bad is just ridiculous.

                Guys...

                Floyd will be back. Trust me...

                People who are buying into his retirement being permanent aren't seeing the big picture. Floyd believes he only deserves big fights, and if De La Hoya is not happening...of course he's going to bow out...for now.

                We all want Cotto vs Floyd to happen now, but think about it...Let's say hypothetically Cotto beats Margarito, beats De La Hoya in December and undoubtedly becomes the #1 WW in the world while becoming a household name. You're telling me Floyd at 33 yrs old still in excellent condition won't come back to fight Cotto in a Mega Fight that would draw huge money?

                Retirement = ploy city...but **** it.
