It sucks that Floyd has to retire..there is literally no one in boxing close to his level.......greats have fought greats throughout history.

Leonard had Hagler, Duran, Hearns, etc....

Ali had Frazier, Foreman, Sonny Liston, etc.

Robinson had LaMotta, Fulmer, Basilio..etc.

Floyd...wheteher you want to believe it or not had Castillo and Corralles..two guys he beat.

Floyds toughest challenges were Zu and Mosley in their prime and neither wanted anything to do with Floyd at the time.

So Floyd sees how big a star Oscar is and envies it...dreaming of a fight with him....Thats why Floyd moved up in weight in the first place to get Oscar.

Now at a weight class where he doesnt even belong his ONLY challenge is a young Miguel Cotto who is not even close to being a great......

Margarito???....didnt Wililams just beat him.

The point is that Maywetaher suffers from being the best in a weak boxing era....

I think if he fought Cotto and Margarito the three of them could have been SIMILAR in ways to hearns/srl/hagler. I think they would have been great fights. It's a shame Floyd never fought either of them, so we'll never know (not for now anyways).

Margarito will not go down as a ATG...

Cotto is the only one whos prime right now that has a chance to go down as an ATG and its not even set in stone that he wont get KO'd against Margarito....

I have been saying this for years. There are no ATG for him to fight. Roy had Bernard and Toney AT LEAST. Floyd has no one but a good but not great fighters by the names of Margarito and Cotto.

Everybody knows that Floyd was scare to death to fight Cotto, he knew all the time he never will beat Cotto, he knew that fighting Cotto he will lose his undefeated status. the man got scare, his looking for excuses to sound real, but no, he is scare to fight Cotto, that is why he retires, is going to be the first fighter that retire for fear to fight a better boxer. what a shame.

listen, it doesn't matter if floyd "ducked" all these ppl... floyd mayweather jr. without a doubt is one of THE MOST SKILLED BOXERS in boxing's history... and with his skills he could have beaten cotto/margarito.

also, instead of hating on floyd mayweather jr., you guys should be respecting and loving him, BECAUSE HE ALMOST BROUGHT BOXING BACK TO THE FRONT PAGES LIKE IT USED TO BE. neither cotto nor margarito are doing that. yes. they are good fighters no doubt. BUT, are the putting boxing back on the front pages? maybe in mexico or puerto rico... but not globally.
