I think boxing is in trouble if Floyd really stays away because we know Oscar is gone at the end of the year. In the past year we've lost Morales, Barrera, Hopkins (probably), De La Hoya (in December), and now Mayweather.

Trinidad and Wright may as well be gone, both of whom are known by many outside boxing (I know, it's shocking, but I've seen Winky on BET tons of times). Mosley is probably gone by the end of the year as well.

Is Roy Jones the last famous guy in the sport?
I'm sorry but Mayweather is not boxing. Sure its a shame he retired but thats all. Some of those fighters you name above are much bigger box office draws than Floyd, because they actually have a fan base and a style that excites people.

I am glad you realize now the truth I do not hate boxing its just sad that many boxing fans are in denial I was as well but seeing MMA blow up even bigger its just how it goes.

love it or hate it but times change and so does combat sports and its evolved to mma.
wtf do people need to see the light about? That MMA is popular right now and becoming more popular than boxing in America? If so, what exactly does that mean? Will boxing all of a sudden disappear? Will people stop fighting? No, all it means is that it wont be in the public eye as much as MMA and it may eventually not bring in as much money. What does that mean to me? Not much at all. I'm a fan of boxing and I will continue to be a fan. I'll ride out the so called hard times of boxing finally having to compete with another combat sport. woopdy doo.

People are acting like its the end of the world or it's so damn horrible that MMA is becoming popular. Why? have other sports not fallen from TV ratings? Was golf always this huge power house? How about Nascar? NHL? Competitive kite flying? lol.

Yeah I know he act's like Boxing is going to be wiped off the map and that all real boxing fan's even care that MMA is the most popular now. Not all of us are these trendy frat boy types that move onto something else just because it's the most popular.
