I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here too:
what I am starting to think is that he doesn't want to deal with the backlash he gets when the Marg v. Cotto winner comes out and the people start calling for the fight even more.
ESPN said that he more then likely will NOT fight De La Hoya! Why would he do this? If he is risking this payday then it makes me think it's for good! If you weren't real about what you were saying then you wouldn't pass this up!
If he does fight DLH then maybe Floyd takes a vacation and comes back in a year or two to fight Cotto if he wins, if Marg wins he probably just stays retired. Too much risk and not enough reward.
I only see this as bluffing if he takes the DLH fight and if he doesn't then he is real about it.
Anyway, I'm not losing any sleep over whatever decision he decides to make
Oh he will make a comeback. You are correct about that. I bet by next year it will be announced. He will look for a big fight or two to pad his bank account. They all do it.
This is true. GB's agenda sometimes does too much damage for the sport. Its more significant for the sport if Floyd were to fight the people who bring the best out of him. The same cannot be said of Smella Hoya.
There's such a long line to fight Oscar..damn good fights don't get made.
Hell
We wouldn't be getting Cotto/Tony if Oscar had interest in either of them..
That's why I was hoping that Forbes made Oscar look even worse than he did.Hoya would have been forced to retire.
Oscar shut Mosley's career down for a YEAR..Shane was sitting by the phone like a woman..waiting for Oscar.
Now he's got Floyd's career all tangled the **** up.
Floyd's his ***** now.
Oscar should just go sit his ego-driven ass down somewhere. He sure as hell doesn't need the money..He has so many other things going that are prospering.
I'm glad he retired right now his ego is getting the better of his judgement, he thought he could do what he wanted and that people wouldn't say **** and just pay to see him fight whoever he wanted. He probrably thinks that he is now a mainstream celebritie that people will pay to see him do whatever and that he doesn't need boxing anymore to get paid.
He'll be back as soon as his bank account starts to dwindle and hopefully it will be a whole different scenerio and he will actually have to fight real fights if he hopes to get paid.
