Imo, say what you want, but i belive it all started by Erik Morales once he stepped in the scene the guy had an aura about him and fought everybody, then everybody at or around his weight was fighting everybody then it just took off into other weights where everybody wanted to fight the best.

When i see somone say "boxing is in a slump or is dieing" I ****en laugh at that post.

To many casual fans and mainstream media say this because the HW division is in a slump and they judge boxing soley on the HW division.

Also no one should complain it's not "mainstream." It's on TV three or four nights per week, and you can get the rest on download.

The situation has never been better. In the 80's it was big but you had less access.

And the HW division is not in a slump, it's just been dominated by non-Americans. So is tennis but that's certainly not in a slump.

I could not be a boxing fan without the internet. Being able to download fights the day after they happen is awesome and one of the best things on this forum. There must be tons of people, like me, who watched casually before but now take it more seriously because they have access to fights they never would have had.

Exactly. If it were on more mainstream television it would have a bigger audience, but the current setup is best for those of us who follow closely. We get the European cards on livestream Saturday afternoons, HBO or Showtime Saturday night, FNF or WNF during the week, Versus on Thursday, Classic late nights, and an endless wealth of downloads. The glory days of the 80's were not this good to boxing fans
