Why Floyd doesn't look spectacular when he faces good to great fighters?

As of now, I think Linares could be the best bet. He is only 23, he has talent, a good level of skills, and fights with purpose.

Gamboa clowns so much... and is not so young, he is a pretty developed fighter by now (even with the delay getting away form Cuba). He should not be acting like he does in the ring, although he is probably promoting himself by doing it. (**** modern boxing, I am hating the game, the players do what they have to do...). The talent is definitely there though.

Pavlik fights clever and is a tough hard hitting guy, so he is hard to beat but skillwise...never mind, and let's not forget he was almost knocked out by Taylor. He will be there, but he will have to move up, and then it might be different as he faces bigger punchers, with sturdier chins.

That is why Pavlik intrigues me. I mentioned in another thread that I could not figure out what is so special about two lefts and a right, but it gets the job done. So time will tell.

The thing is that he fights disciplined, he has a good bond with his trainer. That makes for good performances.

If it was not for that Taylor incident, I would be much more willing to believe in him. We'll see...

EDIT: He has a lot of other qualities too. I pointed out the less obivous ones...

I think Linares is the best young fighter out there. What I like about him is that he is probably arrogant about his abilites as a fighter yet he doesn't show it in the ring (least not what I've seen). Meaning he's not letting his hands drop, he's not teasing his opponent like say a Guzman, he is simply in there to win.

To be honest, I was surprised that after the Gamboa/Kirkland/Angulo card on HBO that Kellerman kind of lit into Gamboa. He said something along the lines of Gamboa has a long way to go and if he were to run into Linares anytime soon he would lose.

I'll take that challenge, considering I know a lot about Tennis, and Roger Federer in particular.

2005 Roger Federer squandered a 2-0 set lead against David Nalbandian at the Tennis Masters Cup.

Should I mention Roger Federer's inability to beat Rafael Nadal on clay.

Or the fact that Nadal (a teenager where you could count the number of times he played on grass with 1 hand), at Wimbledon (Roger's own turf) took him to 5 grueling sets last year, and 4 the year before?

Or how about how Roger got spanked at the Australian Open this year against Djokovic?

No matter how great Federer is, he has had many, many close calls, and a lot of them against players that probably shouldn't have been that close. The mark of a great champion is not the ability to win while at your best, it's winning when you're not at your best.

He tries that **** to either Margarito or Cotto and he'll get punched, even Delahoya wont put up with that **** which is why he never put his hands on Delahoya.

And i can't belive people are saying Corrales wasn't an elite fighter, wow, too many young boxing fans now a days on the boxingscene.

Another floyd fanatic, floyd is a natural welterweight if not bigger, the ****er can't make lightweight for ****, jr. welterweight lol, he'd make one last apperacne then run back to his more natural weight of welterweight.

And that wasn't even a punch. It was a little shove from Hopkins.
forgot about that ****, thanks. sinclair should have been charged a fee, if i was Hatton trainer i would have punched Mayweather myself for grabbing my fighter like that

its impossible.. too many haters.. some people hate what they can't be..
                      lets run some names

Pacquaio looked like he was gonna lose and lost in my opinion against marquez

Calzaghe looked like an amatuer against hopkins

Cotto looked sorry against every good fighter he has faced with the exception of quintana

Floyd didnt even fight hard against Oscar and still made the fight look easy.. In the rough fight with hatton, floyd won most of the rounds, smothered hatton's punches and was hitting him with clean effective shots and koed the guy.. Baldomir got shut out, Gatti was embarrassed, Manfredy got destroyed, Corrales was outclassed, Hernandez outclassed, he did struggle with Castillo the first fight but in the second he easily beat him.. FLoyd always rises to the occasion especially in his biggest fights
