There is a flaw in their logic. Many people tuned in, but the question is... will any of them watch again. The answer... probably not.

Truth.
And fairly new sport? I saw the first UFC event, way back in 93. To say MMA is "new", is pretty ******. I know more about MMA then a lot of these frat type ****s that swear up and down its the greatest **** since sliced bread.
Not hating. At all. But the sport is far from "new".Comment

I also watched it from the "Paul Varelans" years. Glad that we can agree on something!Truth.

I think most of the people tuned in to watch Slice of Chesse. He has been hyped as all get out and unfortunatly people that don't know much about the fight game buy into it. Like other's have been saying I wonder how many will tune in next time.Comment

The WWF's attempt at a football league, the XFL, pulled in a very respectable 10.3/17 in it's opening game. The XFL wound up averaging 0.7/2 for the rest of the season.
The curiosity factor probably brought in more viewers than the prospect of seeing some quality action.Comment

the fights where pretty good imoi heard from a couple of people that it only did a 3.3.
But those are really good ratings. EVERYBODY is talking about Kimbo Slice, everywhere i go. People think he is a complete badass, the best MMA artist ever. Like Tyson back in the 80's
I'm very interested to see how the next Elite XC card does ratings wise, considering how bad this card was. they were lucky enough to have a main event that seemed to save it. But unless the next main event is Shamrock-Lee 2, i dont think they can do much better...Comment

It did great for an MMA event, but reading that article made it seem like it was amazing ratings, which it wasnt:
Overall, the show averaged 4.9 million viewers, and ranked a middling 49th place. Fox's America's Most Wanted (38th place, 5.4 million) beat it in the 9 p.m. hour, but Saturday Night Fights got bigger and bloodier as its long night wore on, peaking from 11:30-11:51 p.m. with 6.5 million viewers for a bout pitting Slice against James "Colossus" Thompson.

I tuned in and laughed my ****ing head off.
1. How the **** do they let Kimbo get away with that beard? It's as thick as my bedsheets. That is so ridiculous it's not even funny. He must have a glass chin to wear a beard like that.
2. Wow, the main event was fun to watch but it was so sloppy. I'll never understand how people enjoy watching this. Those slugs were gased after 2 minutes of HUGGING ON THE FLOOR. What a pathetic show but highly entertaining.Comment
