Ring smarts isn't about getting hit.. it's about adjusting your style to beat your opponents, it's about finding openings and knowing how to exploit them, about finding a will to win and knowing what your opponent will do next and have them timed. Mayweather got a split decision against DLH.. did he adjust to the jab? No, everytime DLH was pumping that **** he was getting work done. That fight hung on one point for gods sake..

Anyone who objectively scored that fight knows it did not hang on one point.

Devuis, I personally call him Carlton but Tyler Perry suits that corny mother****er too. Anyway to be completely honest yeah Floyd has great ring smarts but he has never had to climb a mountain for a win. He's always been able to outsmart people in the ring but can he adapt to adversity? Cotto has proved time and time again when hurt or stunned that he can rework what he is doing and find another way around to ****ing somebody up. I don't think Floyds ring smarts have really been put to the test as has hasn't faced a challenge that has put him in a situation where he was uncomfortable or not used to. Floyds fights are high paying sparring matches for the most part as he uses his speed to box his way to victory. I say Cotto due to his wars.

Dude go away I know what smarts entail, the question wasnt about ring smarts but smarts in general, Floyd is smarter point blank and isnt dumb enough to get caught with the same punch repeatedly.

I think Floyd is the "smarter" fighter but Cotto isn't a dumb fighter! The way he adjusted his style in the Mosley fight was impressive. He stopped trading with Mosley when he realized that he couldn't knock him out and out boxed him. Many criticized him for that move but it was very smart! Mosley wasn't getting knocked out that night.....
