Williams doesnt have the power to make Quintana respect him.

Paul Williams is a fine boxer, and i strongly believe that he just had an "off" night during his first fight with Quintana. With that said, im still putting my money on Quintana to beat him a second time around. First, Quintana has the confidence of having a win going into this second fight. Second, like i stated, Paul is a fine boxer with a long reach advantage, and has a high workrate, but that alone isnt going to beat Quintana. Quintana is a slick boxer who shows all kinds of angles while fighting. He doesnt just stand in front of you to get hit ala Margarito. Paul Williams biggest flaw in my opinion is his lack of power. Remember how he couldnt even put down that Pakau guy? Williams hit him with everything but the kitchen sink, and that little guy STILL kept coming forward unfazed. Quintana knows this, and will not hesitate to take chances so that he can get his own shots in. Williams has no leverage on his punches. He throws mainly arm punches. If he had the power of Hearns, he will be one dangerous mofo.

Taking bets: I have 10k on Quintana. Anyone interested???

Quitana will lose badly this time around.

Williams has pop when he he wants to throw hard.

Dude against Pakau he said after the fight that he didnt want to hurt the kid..he took the fight on like a 2 weeks notce.

What a bias ass post....how about mentioning that Paul sparred only righties in camp last time....hes now sparring Louis Collazo a slick leftie whos wayyy faster then Quitana is.

Im glad you mention the margarito fight because he said thats how he was training like it was for Margarito expecting just to steam roll Quitana...he ovber looked him..plain and simple....calm down.

I said something similar in the "Williams vs Quinana" thread. There are some people that think that, just because Paul Williams is a tall guy fighting at WW, he is some kind of monster. He isn't. Height, as in leverage advantage, is just one of the many things that make a fighter a hard hitter, and Paul Williams seems somewhat frail at WW.

Paul Williams is not Tommy Hearns.

It may be true that Williams doesn't have the power to make Quintana respect him, but its not going to be a very significant factor in the fight.

Qunitana obtained his victory last time through well timed counter punching, not through walking Williams down and hitting him, so respect for Williams power doesn't really enter into it too much.

If the next fight goes differently and Quintana does have to be the agressor then the question will be whether he can catch Williams. Williams will not be punching to keep Quintana off him, but moving.

The most important factor in this fight will be whether Williams tries to walk Quintana down like he did last time, in which case the outcome will be the same, or if he boxes smarter and tries to force Quintana to atack, in which case I think Williams will win.

Williams doesn't have great power but he makes up for it in different areas.
