Just saw Margarito Clottey again

Boxing is about technique and whether you can impose your style on the other fighter. Thats what gets me about these Margarito haters. Its always about how slow and lumbering he is, how telegraphed his punches are, etc etc. And they always pick whoever he is fighting to beat him, based on those attributes. I'm just wondering why Paul Williams is the only fighter in the last couple of years to squeak by him? What Margarito lacks in speed, he makes up for in power and volume to go along with a pretty great chin. He isn't the greatest fighter ever, or even this era, but he is a threat at welterweight.

How can anyone think that Margarito can beat Cotto is beyond me. Margarito's defense is horrible he can't slip a punch and his body completely open. He squares himself up when he throws combinations and can easily be countered. He is slow and throws a lot of punches with nothing on them.

Clottey beat him the **** out of him for the first four rounds and Margarito/Cotto is going to look like the third round over and over again until Margarito can't take no more and goes down.

I've still never seen that fight. I wish I had Showtime. With that said, I think Cotto will win the fight.

watching two year old fights and putting it to present time gets you not too mention margarito was coming off a long layoff. Just to show you how flush someone can land and it doesnt even effect margarito. I just finished watching the cotto vs torres fight and how anyone thinks that cotto can handle margarito's pressure is beyond me

Margarito is the slowest "elite" fighter I can ever recall. Clottey would hit him with 6-7 punch combos until he hurt his hands.

If he can land any of those punches, he threw a million punches and hardly landed any. He didn't land any flush punches and never hurt Clottey. He basically won the fight based on throwing punches and not landing any against a man who hurt both of his hands. Pressure doesn't mean **** if you're not landing.

At the end of the fight Clottey was still landing at will even thouth they were nothing but hard slaps. If true he has a chin, but let's see how many flush head and body punches he will be able to take.
