    Did Lennox Lewis Need Tyson?

it can be said that tyson indeed needed the lewis fight but lewis needed the tyson fight more. lewis needed that defining fight in his career that would be the defining fight. not so much that it was the best fight but more that it was tyson. some could argue that evander was more the defining fight. what do you think?

Lewis' bank account needed Tyson, his legacy didn't. If he fought him in 93-96', that would have been a different story. The Holyfield fights were more signifigant for him.(Lewis)

Lennox's two Evander "wins" were very entertaining, because both guys showed-up conditioned and ready to mix-it-up. Tyson on the other hand was a shell of his former self, largely because of his lifestyle (i.e. no conditioning).

By the way, if you really think that Lennox hand $$ on his mind, what do you think Mike was there for? At least Lennox's $$ are in the black!

I don't agree. I realize his laziness sometimes irritated, but my thoughts before a Lewis fight were that of an "event". I always enjoyed watching him fight, regardless of the outcome.

I agree completely, although I would have liked to have seen them duke it out a couple of years earlier....

historically i think that a ko victory of tyson would have more of an impact that a descision and a draw with the real deal. tyson had more of an impact on the bioxing world than evander did. although i like evander way more than i do tyson i still see tysons name being the more talked about. thats why i think the ko victory over tyson was more needed to be the defining fight of his career.

Lewis was a good fighter, but would never pay to watch him unless it was tyson of course.
