Eagle Kyowa fought in ****kok, Thaliand his last fight in which was a title bout. He lost the fight though in a close match.

Japan doesn't really have too many champions and they'd get **** money in the US or elsewhere. I don't mind them fighting in Japan. I just wish the US would get more exposure to them/they would be willing to fight the IBF and WBO champs. At Bantam I'd like to see Hozumi Hasegawa vs Gerry Penelosa.

bwahaha! it WAS written by Ronnie! I knew the second I saw the title. He loves the Phillipines, which is weird, because I think hes white. but I guess theres nothing wrong with that.

I honestly dont know much about the flyweight division...but if Donaire wants some big fights, he should move up to Super Flyweight. Those are where the real good fighters are at.

Dude Flyweight is gonna rock with unification. On July 30 Sakata and Naito on are on the same card. Granted they win they will probably unify!

Then again Hozumi and Sodrienko were on the same card and then they didn't....If fact Sodrienko lost his next fight.

Im aware of the eagle kyowa fight. Its what inspired my question. The Philippines dont have many champions either, but we have fighters that go out and win and successfully defend world championships in hostile environments like ****kok, mexico city, and madison square garden 4 **** money

Donaire will have his last defense of his title on August and a rematch with Darchinyan which Shaw is trying to make and he will invade the 115 by the end of the year.. I hope Nonito will get a buy-out with Arum.. Most likely Montiel vs Nonito will happen at 115 and after he smashed Montiel a showdown with Mijares will surely be at 118 since Mijares already wants to move up in weight already because of his problems slimming down to 115..
I just got off the phone with Donaire, he says he hadn't heard any of this.

When I asked him if he would be moving up to 115 to fight Montiel, he was excited about it but said that he hadn't heard a thing about it. He said he doesn't want to get his hopes up until something is official and in the mean time is helping Glenn Donaire prepare for his next fight.

We also talked about the Maldonado fight about him switching to southpaw. He said he did it because he got bored and wanted to do something different.

It's a shame he isn't more active, his fight with Maldonado was among the most comprehensive beatings I've seen in some time.

I agree, Solis is a very good combination puncher and is always in peak conditioning. The one thing Glenn Donaire has going for him is that he will be fighting at his best weight. At 112, he was so much smaller than Darchinyan. At 108 it will level out the playing field somewhat, though Solis is still a much more capable puncher.

I just listened to the podcast where Bob Arum discusses the Donaire-Montiel possibility. He mentions it very briefly at the end of the interview saying, "The fight that I really want to make before the end of the year is Montiel versus Nonito Donaire." That's all he says, nothing about fighting on the Darchinyan under card.

Naito & Sakata didn't avoid Donaire

shadeyfizzle - If memory serves me right, it was 16 years ago when Akinobu Hiranaka won the title by defeating Edwin Rosario in Mexico just 92 seconds into the bout. Since then, no Japanese fighter has won a world title outside of Japanese soil. What a shame...

Anyone who thinks of a Naito or Sakata - Donaire crash as a matter of pride, thinks wrong. What is really annoying about Japan's professional boxing is that if Japanese fighter X fights for the IBF or WBO belt, then he will be banned from any activity regarding boxing in Japan. That sure sucks, really. But that's what's going to happen to Sakata or Naito should either one of them fights Donaire to unify the belts. Screw Japan Boxing Commission. At this rate Japanese boxing will very soon arrive at where Korean boxing currently is.

In terms of business, Nonito sure won't make the biggest payday of their lives. Why not? Simply because Nonito isn't popular enough here in Japan. Yeah, avid Japanese fight fans recognize Nonito Donaire's potential, counterpunching skills and whatnot. But that won't make a Donaire bout happen in Japan. I myself am one of those who are desperate to see Nonito in action in a unification bout against a Japanese titlist, but what most of the Japanese want is to see Naito or Sakata eviscerate former WBC light flyweight champion Koki Kameda, who is currently on the run because he's been on Naito and Sakata's hit list.

Well, to make a lot of story short, Naito and Sakata didn't avoid Donaire. They are simply not qualified to fight him for the unification. Would you please stop blaming Naito and Sakata people? You can see how many times they fought the champions to become champions. They aren't the kind of guys who chicken out. You can just blame JBC instead.
