Pac opening doors for Pinoys in MMA as well?

Both Brandon Vera and winner of the other days light heavy contest on the pulver / Faber undercard, Mark Munoz, sight Pacquiao's success as a motivator for doing how they do. Munoz who is full blooded looks to be more "Americanized" than Vera who speaks fluent Filipino. Pinoy flags reppin. maybe Pac had a little influence there as well.

How is that nuthugging. I have read both fighters sighting pacquiao as an inspiration. Since PAC showed up you didn't even know what a philippine flag looked like. Now we even see them being waved in Mma events. Coincidence? I'm just pointing out that Pac MAY HAVE had a role in this. MAY HAVE. How is that hugging when Im just noticing coincidences involving the mentioned influence of pacquiao. I think your over sensitive in your assertion of nuthuggerism. I guess the mention of pacs name in here has to be used with extreme caution lest you be branded a nuthugger.

Good 4 both pinoys winning this weekend but i think that throwing Pacquiao's name out as inspiration is a load of bull because they are just riding his coattails instead of making names 4 themselves. What reason does vera have to be looking up to pac other than wealth?? Pac originally was a kickboxer but couldnt hack it in that world, vera is about as large as a filipino gets even for halfies, and he's even a tv star with more acting skills than Pac. I say for being monikered the truth he fed the media a bunch of bull to be placed in the same category as Pac instead of blazing his own path being a pioneering filipino in mma.

you gotta get your information right buddy. Pinoys don't kickbox and that includes pacquiao who has never kickboxed. That dude mark munoz who won the other night is full blooded pinoy fighting at over 200lbs. Pinoys that grew up In the U.S. are bigger than you think. 2 my brothers are 6 foot and my cousins that grew up here are linebackers for their H.S. that dude Mark Munoz in his interview sighted pac as one of the reasons for him deciding to go into MmA along with fabers nagging. Get your info right bro.

I have my info right bro..u just misunderstood it. there are old interviews of pcaquiao saying he kickboxed as a kid but got convinced theres more money in boxing. I never said there ISNT any filipinos bigger than vera, i said JUST ABOUT, meaning itll be very rare. Im a 6ft fil-am myself but i dont have that kind of build. I never said that vera and munoz didnt site Pac as inspiration, im just saying i question the genuine honesty of the statements.

Just a misunderstanding. Its rare but not that rare. My family is big boned and my son will be over 6 foot for sure and is bigger than most kids his age width wise. My bro has pinoy friends that are huge. When we go to the P.I. We tower over everybody. You gotta admit Pinoy flags have been waving since pacquiao. Even that wrestler Batista is out the woodwork with that tatoo. Could be coincidence or just dudes riding coat tails but PAC may have had an influence is all I'm saying.

In the bay area the filipino flags have been waving since befoe Pac shot to fame and I for one think that most flips have been reppin the pride a little too hard when they havent done any good 4 the community. Pro athletes like Pac and vera are in a position to make a difference so its ok i guess but i believe in being a good representation of ur culture by actions, not flag waving. I think as far as filipino athletes only Pac has a right and responsibility to rep that hard since he's become a symbol of heroism like a capt america. But too many guys like that would just look silly.

I actually live in the Bay Area but when I was on the east coast I didnt really have any exposure to filipinos...I didnt really know what a filipino was until Pacman blew up...then all of a sudden these guys were even more Vocal about there Filipino hertiage. Many times before I would see an asian guy with a spanish last name and he wouldnt really say what he was...now I see many of them repping hard pinoy pride.
