IMO The Power adv. goes to Cotto against Marg.

Much is talked about Margarito's power and yes, the boy can ****!
His greatest KO victories I would probably say were Kermit Cintron (twice) and Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis (Lewis has a weak chin I might add).
He has a great KO record too with 26 of his 36 wins coming by way of knock out.
But if you look at his record, the majority of his KO's haven't been against solid opposition. Now I don't blame him for not KOing Clottey or Williams, they are both tough cookies with solid chins.

If you look at Cotto's resume though he has 26 knock out wins out of 32 and against harder opposition.
Now I'm not saying Tony couldn't KO the fighters Cotto has.. I am saying he hasn't so whether if he could or if he couldn't remains to be seen.

Based on what I have seen with Tony though I don't see him devastatingly over powering Cotto. If Tony does have the power advantage.. it's a very small one but IMO Cotto's proven himself more to give him the **** advantage. He also knows how to throw cleaner and crisper punches.. That adds to the power.

I'm starting to think that no one is being KO'd in the fight though.. both have solid chins and if it does happen.. it will be do to exhaustion in the later rounds. Their fighting styles make for this fight to be a knock out fight.. but I'm predicting it goes the full 12.

Thats what I been saying. Cotto has knocked out more quality opponents, Margarito's most impressive victory may have been against Cintron, but then again who has he fought? Margarito has a good amount of power, but I think people put to much into into it. I believe both his workrate & the number of punches he throws in an exchange are the reason his opponents get cracked. But Cotto seems to have more stopping power, then again he also throws a lot of punches in succession to the body. But his opponents always feel his power in the beginning straight threw the end. I think the physical strength goes to Margarito and punching power goes to Cotto.

He's fought Williams, Cintron, and Clottey.. not bad. He just hasn't knocked out the best of his opponent other then Cintron.

      But I agree..

The cool thing about boxing is that power vs. power isn't a factor in most fights.

Yes, Miguel Cotto hits harder than Antonio Margarito.

Margarito also has the better chin, by far.

I think, ultimately, that Margarito's power/Cotto's chin vs. Cotto's power/Margarito's chin goes to Margarito, meaning that Margarito is more likely to knock Cotto out than vice versa (excluding body shots obviously).

Neither guy is a 1 punch destroyer. Cotto does it over time with precision punches and Tony does it with sheer volume. But if either guy could drop the other with 1 shot I'd bet Tony to do it before Cotto.

I meant who has Cintron himself fought. No doubt that Margarito has had some very good competition in Clottey specifically.

Both of them are fighters who wear out their opponents then knock them out, their power is comparable. I think Cotto is the better body puncher, I'm not sure if he has better 1 punch knockout power though.

So which opponets are harder? If anything take away Mosley and even Judah though i don't think much of JUdah and which are the better opponets?

If Cotto was a phyically strong fighter as you say he is then there would be no need for his to be backing away from fighters.

I think there will be a ko.

Good post. You make a valid point but I think Cotto has yet to be seriously hurt at welterweight and he is much more comfortable in this division so his chin shouldn't be a big problem.
I can't see Margarito landing at will on Cotto, IMO it's just not gonna happen.
But like I said before.. I see this going the full 12 rounds.. Margarito has a solid chin and wont be greatly hurt by Cotto and Margarito wont land cleanly enough to greatly hurt Cotto.

it wont matter cause we all know margarito has an iron chin... i think if margarito didnt throw his punches so wide he would put more damage to his opponents but thats just the way he fights
