NaME one fighter on Mayweathers resume that he beat at their peak that is comparable to Duran, Hearns, Hagler......

Many are quick to say He is the greatest cause he did things no one else did..hmmmm

    Lets see.

When Armstrong and Robinson fought, there was not a jr welter divsion, Jr Middle division or super middle division...Weight classes that with any logic they would have held titles at as well, as Robinson started at 128...won his first 200 fights with out a loss (including amateur) lost one fight ( 1 out of 5 to Jake L 1 out of 4), revenged that loss in a matter of weeks, then went on to win the welter, middle and was a round away from winning the Lightheavy title....Only lost due to heat dehydration. Robinson was well ahead on all cards before not answering the bell for the final round.

Mayweather is great, but funny how only young people who think latest = greatest, are even mentioning Mayweather name with robinson, armstrong, duran, Leonard.
Do you honestly think Mayweather would move up and fight welters back in the 80's...Hell no,!!

Lasty. Remember when Shane mosley after beating DLH was considered the best fighter since Leonard....Remember that. Well Shane Mosley risked it, to be great, he did not play it safe, hid behind claims he has to make major money. Mosley faced fighters bigger and better than mayweather has dreamed of fighting. Forrest, who has mayweather fought the compares in speed, size, power at 147? How about Winky wright who Mayweather backed out of a contract to fight Wright because of money issues.

    Mayweather fought at welter:

    Baldomire ---- bum
Judah------- has lost to every top fighter he has faced
Hatton ----- at 147 had one fight prev his fight with Maywather at 147, this fight being vs Collazo, and he got hurt and almost lost that fight. Thus Hatton at 147 is a joke.

At 140 his best win was Gotti....

135 his best win was Castillo

130 He had a bunch of good wins, but his best was Diego

Sorry people he is far from being able to say he is a top 10 great, to even mention him in a serious education descussion that involved fighters like leonard, Robinosn, Duran, armstrong...

Great post, Karma! The best part is where you mentioned that Mosley dared to be great and didn't just rest on his laurels.

The simple, and biggest, difference between the guys who are at the very top of the pound for pound lists is that they have beaten other All Time Great fighters who were also in their peaks. I mean, we are talking about the best pound for pound fighter ever here. If you think beating De La Hoya twice and Cotto, Mosley etc would put Mayweather at the top you're so far deluded as to be in another space/time continuum.

He hasn't even beaten a fighter who is great. As in right now great! He has beaten some good champions and some very past it used-to-be-elites and he is one hell of a fighter, but, you have to take into account the fighters he beats and they just ain't that good. Not nearly close enough to put him at the top. Those fighters wouldn't even be enough to put him at the top fifteen, twenty for me. They are just not good enough to put him above so many other fighters who fought other champions that were just as good (as in just as good as them, not as good as Cotto, old Hoya etc). Other All Time Great champions. That's the really big difference and it's what will always hold him back.

Duran the man who beat Ray Leonard so senseless the first time that Leonard had to cheat the second time to win.. yup, that Duran!
2 things Devious. What fight are you referring too ... Funny how deluded you are. Duran won this fight by a total of 4 points between 3 judges. Great fight by Duran, Great accomplishment, the only fighter to beat a prime Leonard. However duran after round 4 my friend lost most of the remaining rounds on each judges scorecard. Check for yourself.

As for the 2nd fight. How is it that Leonard cheated, when Duran QUIT. How is that. Duran simply could not touch leonard that night and was getting his head boxed off, and siad quote " I am not boxing anymore with this clown". There was no cramps, diarreah etc.. all the excuses we have heare people like you make. Hell even if there was Mayweather fought with a damaged shoulder, Ali fought with a broken jaw,,This is boxing. Grow up and quit sounding like a B*&tch ( referring to Duran) and finish the fight.

As for you, Duran is one of the best fighters ever under 154, he did beat leonard, but your greatly overaxaggerating your point, and sound ****** as everyone on here saw both fights, and the first one was a classic fight at boxings best, wehre duran brought it to leonards ass the entire fight, but after round 4 Leonard stepped up his game and met fire with fire, just came up short. The second fight was less active with Leonard choosing to box duran, and duran could not adjust and thus he quit.

                Those are the facts!

My thread started out by me thinking if Mayweather wants to go out as the best ever is it possible. After reading your post I believe there is not anybody he can beat to accomplish this task. If Floyd went up and fought the best Heavyweight out there Klitchko some of you haters would state that Klitchko isn't that good. If he fights Joe Calzaghe some of you haters would say Joe is a slapper. If he fights Winky Wright some of you haters would say Winky hasn't fought in a long time. If he fights Cotto some of you haters would say Cotto isn't polished yet. Give the man his props. He is the best boxer we have had in at least the last 20 years if he beats De La Hoya, Mosley, and Cotto. Duran is a great fighter but will always be remembered for NO MAS in many peoples mind.
