MMA on CBS OFFICIAL ATTENDANCE is.... 8,033???????????

That crowd looked MAAAAAASSIVE. I was thinking at lease 17,000 in the stadium, although they did cut off a large chunk of seats to get that whole ring entrance thing in, and the upperdeck was empty practically.

But still, that crowd seemed huge... they did a good job of hiding.

Im just so happy that SHAW's attempt into MMA seems to have been a flop. I hate that guy with such a strong passion

I hate Shaw too, that ****sucker had the nerve to say Kimbo is the Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods of MMA....Kimbo is a bum, he's the biggest hypejob of all time and Gary Shaw is the biggest douchebag piece of **** of all time.

Shaw is the worst promoter i've ever seen, the man cannot pump up people for fights...

8,000 isn't bad... I remember Toney-Ruiz doing worse, recent fights like Hopkins-Wright doing that, wasn't Hatton's first couple US fights worse than that?

Vazquez-Marquez II only had like 2-3,000 on hand - that was a Shaw card too...

I believe the past 2 EliteXC San Jose shows must have had more fans than Newark did tonight...

And Kimbo going into this fight was SOOOOOOOOOO easy to promote. Just put in a commercial and compare him to Tyson, which he looks and fights exactly like, not to mention Tyson is the dudes hero, and you sell the arena out.

Some of the people in charge of the sports just dont see the big picture, and are so focused on making a buck that they hold back on every big marketing oppurtunity that may be a risk

for a "historical" first being on CBS and all, thats pretty disappointing.

they made such a big deal out of it being on free TV, why would you buy a ticket in the cheap seats?

I've always wondered how much you can see at a cagefight anyway...especially if the action is on the opposite side and on the ground

its not bad at all, its a very respectable crowd.

But **** that thing looked packed the gills.

Anyway, the point im making is that for MMA's first fight on NETWORK TV, for a fight that was huge in importance for the sport, the place shoulda been sold out.

Gary Shaw is just so ****ing bad at what he does...

I mean like you said, he could only get about 5,000 in the arena for M-V 1, and for the rematch he got even less!!!!! For the 3rd he sold the place out but thats because the whole boxing community was buzzing about it

And really, Kimbo has created some buzz, and Gina Carano too, but this just wasn't a fantastic card to draw a huge crowd.

If this had been the Cung Le-Frank Shamrock or Frank Shamrock-Phil Baroni card, I think some of the people blasting tonight's show wouldn't be quite so wound up. Those two fight cards featured San Jose natives in fantastic action-packed events. Tonight the refs did all they could to stop the action...

Also, the crowd was way louder on those 2 events

yea i seen the Lee-Shamrock fight that was pretty awsome.

but i ****in hate that white announcer guy. I dont really like any of the announcers to be honest. they all seem to be sucking up to somebody, and never tell it like it is. Always hyping up the job.

I mean idk their names, but that eye-poke fight tonight... that was a decent fight, some good action, but on its way to being an instant classic? c'mon now... nobody is gonna buy that
