Is Joe Calzaghe ducking Roy Jones?

It's not about ducking, but I do think Joe should fight someone at 175, rather than picking on a middlerweight.

Let Pavlik have his reign at 160. It won't last forever, but it doesn't need to be interrupted by chasing paper fights

I think thats a little harsh. I would like to see Calzaghe fight Dawson or Tarver, but in reality those fights don't look at all likely. Pavlik has a better reputation than either at the moment and is the closest thing to the "great, prime" opponent Joe's critics say he needs to face. (Whether he actually is or not is another question).

I think its an extremely bad matchup for Kelly stylistically, but also a very big fight for him, with great risk/ reward. Its not the best fight for boxing in its purest sense, but its definitely not a paper fight either.

YES, he is ducking Roy. At first he was all for it, could not think about anything else. Until........................Until , he had time to consider what might happen. He is slower than Roy and has nowhere near the power that Roy has. Granted, his work rate is better and he has a hell of a chin. But, what it will boil down to is styles. Hopkins gave Joe all he could handle and he is nowhere near as fast as Roy Jones is. I think that Joe is taking that into consideration now and is giving it a second thought. I can't say that i blame him. I feel that Roy is a bad style match for Calzaghe, now and cirtainly back when Rjj was considered Mr. Unstoppable. Roy should get 45% of the cut and i am sure he will ask for no more than that. He is the one who will bring the skrilla to the table, not Pavlik. Either fight would be a blockbuster however.
