in a pure brawl it is.

you know every fighter represent his country when he is strong and powerful but nobody is going to stand by him in the hard time.

example if Margarito makes a no mas in Cotto fight how many Mexician are going to support him? only his family. That what 'Beyond Glory' Roberto Duran taught me.

at the end of the day every fighter fights for himself like it or not. He works hard and win title not because of his nationalitiy or race but because his willingness and smartness.

I love people who have a distant cousin in Mexico claiming credit for great Mexican fighters. Its pure comedy. Viva California/Texas!

as i said not the style is more of globalized there mexican style is dying out. Because it is not as effective as others styles.

Martin Castillo, Cristan Mijares, Navarro, JMM...etc all have good amateur background and are not pressure type of fighter but more of multi-task type of fighters.

in order to win you should have more than one style
Your insight is kind of wack. Marquez great boxer he's been but since he started brawling with his opponets he's been getting more notice and winning too. What im trying to say is he is now a brawler but he can fight, boxer/puncher they'd say.

Zertuche was an Mexican Olympian and he has that Mexican style. And Navarro if you're talking about Jose Navarro is an American Olympian and he was born in the USA but has a come forward boxing style you can say Mexican style just he doesn always stay on the inside but he is a fighter that can box.

I haven't seen many old school boxers but when i've seen a few fights of the old Mexican greats they all could box if they had too or wanted too. But they loved to brawl cause they could.

imo arce is showing lots of age, i thought the thai guy defeated him and i was rooting for arce, he doesnt have much left i just hope he fights darchinyan before he retires thats a fight that would be perfect for him
ulises solis is also a guy that shows a lot of talent he reminds me of humberto gonzales great boxing skills and great power only thing that is doubt is his chin
I haven't seen the Arce fight, and my copy of Mijares is wack so im going to download those fights and see the fights.

I've heard good thinks about Solis just havn't gotten around to download one of his fights but if you're telling me he reminds you of Chiquita then im a have to down load some of his fights. Chiquita was a badass and you're right loved to brawl but his chin did him in somtimes. How is Solis defence? I recall Chiquita didn't mind getting hit that much.

for me life it too short and I dont want to damage myself in boxing that much.

Because I got more important fights to fight and it not in sports.

Jose Navarro comes forward but also boxed from time to time. It is not pure mexican pressure fighter.

They only guy that I think has a pure mexican style is DeLeon right now. He got an amateur record and was part of mexican amateur boxing team. I think people are underestimating his boxing skills, maybe he didnt need to use it because he never had trouble to use it. But I wont be suprised if he boxed and took a person to school in one of his fights.

I aggree every fighter fights for himself but at the same time or at one point in time when succes is the norm it then becomes about representation.

I wasn't talking about the Olympics, or the amatuers. I was just pointing out that the medal stand (can also be referred to as the top 3 places) of the P4P list are NOT Mexicans.

Therefore, it is difficult for someone to dominate something when they don't have a share of first, second or third place.

Now do you all get my drift?

And I really don't have a problem with Mexican fighters, I just thought I might bring this thread back down to Earth a bit... considering it has a title about Mexicans dominating the P4P list.
