    Calzaghe's so called low-medioca opposition

    Some people say some of his opposition was flat out lame, others low-medium fighters, and it's massively exaggerated.

    Tocker Pudwill;
    a) Key to note he was a last minute replacement.
    b) Sven Ottke took 12 R's to beat him on points.
    c) 2 years later a brittle handed Calzaghe TKO'd him in the 2nd round.

    Charles Brewer;
    a) Beat Antoine Byrd to take the IBF SMW title.
    b) Lost 2x SD's to Sven Ottke
    c) Calzaghe beat him with a UD not reaching 90% of his capabilities that night.

    Mario Veit;
    a) Beat Kabary Salem to take interim WBO SMW belt.
    b) Beat Charles Brewer by TKO
    c) Calzaghe knocked him down twice, TKO'd in the first round, then in the 6th on 2nd meeting.

    That's just three examples. No way to those whom make such exaggerated criticisms of him know these things, and if they do, have any non biased appreciation for them. It's all to easy to sit there and criticise a guy, yes his resume could be better, but don't dismiss his opposition and make out quite so radically so many were poor, because it's just false.

    I always say that 1 in 2 of Calzaghe's opponents were worthwhile, if not stellar.

    It's usually little boy punk Yanks like Diego "Ray Robinson was a bum because he lost some fights" ****o that say they're nobodies.

    If they're not on Showtime or HBO they're nothing... so a prime olympic medalist and two time world champion like Robin Reid is a bum... at least until Jeff "LOL" Lacy bashes him up when he's shot to pieces.

      Yep. See also Tunney's "Joe Calzaghe's resume: very impressive" thread:

        i stopped reading when it said "Sven Ottke took 12 rounds to beat him on points". Those guys are bums, and there are bums in Hopkins' resume as well. You can discredit almost everyone's resume so its really irrelivant you can't convince people that Calzaghe fought good opposition because he didn't. Most people's resume's don't look too strong if you actually break them down.
