    Joe Cazaghe's resume: very impressive

Many of his opponents have held world titles:

Eubank (WBO twice, at 160 and 168)
    Reid (WBC at 168)
Hopkins (IBF, WBC, WBO, WBA, Ring at 160, and IBO, Ring at 175)
Kessler (WBA and WBC at 168)
    Lacy (IBF at 168)
    Mitchell (WBA twice at 168)
    Brewer (IBF at 168)
Veit (interim WBO twice at 168)
    Woodhall (WBC at 168)
    Thornberry (IBO at 168)

Some of the others were strong opponents too:

    Bika (contender champion 2007)
Sheika (was coming off a win over Glen Johnson)

    Some were undefeated:

    Kessler (39-0)
    Lacy (21-0)
    Veit (30-0)
    Hughes (12-0)
    Delaney (21-0)

Calzaghe currently holds the prestigious Ring title in two different weight classes, super middleweight and light heavyweight, at the same time!

It's a very good resume by any standards.

I was waiting for someone to put together something like this. I was too lazy. Good job.

Was going to do a post like this myself, but never had the time. Excellent work. Just be sure to bump it at the appropriate times. I think a few posters on here will be surprised, though they won't admit it.

It is a solid resume, and often overlooked. If you had 20 defences there are gonna be some soft ones in there. It is a shame he couldn't get the unifications with ottke and beyer, not that he wouldn't have wiped the floor with the pair of them. You can only beat who is put in front of you and although the competition was weak in the majority of his era, he beat everyone put in front of him, and most of the time very convincingly and one sided.

Also a shame his marquee fights have only come in the last couple of years, which is probably 4or 5 years past his physical prime

His resume was OK, not as weak as some might say it is but it could've been better.

Its funny how some people esteem belts when it helps their argument. With 5 generally recognized belts floating around you dont have to be anywhere near elite to obtain one. Its about the fighter not the belt anyway, his resume is very weak considering he has been fighting for so long not to mention had a belt himself for over a decade, di****able shame he hasnt faced better competition in all that time.

You will never make the names aside from Hopkins, Kessler, Lacy and Eubank sound impressive to the Americans so it won't really matter.

They will be passed off as mere titleholders in a weak division and to be honest, that is basically what they were but I do think Calzaghe should be given credit for how consistent he was against solid opposition.
Reid, Mitchell, Woodhall, Brewer and Sheika were tough fighters.

I do find it quite hypocritical for people who criticize Hopkins' MW opposition as often as they do to make Calzaghe's SMW resume look greater by the amount of titleholders he beat as Hopkins probably beat the same amount (Joppy, Holmes, JD Jackson, Daniels, Allen, Johnson), you just don't see much talk about it.

Well, you cant count the IBO. That is not a real belt, especially not back in the day. Its actually making good decisions now, but I really odnt want to give it any status....I mean really, FIVE title belts?! its just a travesty. It was much better when there was just two, now every other guy is a 'World Titlist'...

And you cant really call Veit a World Champ. the belt he 'won' was not only an interim one, but he only won the interim belt because Calzaghe himself was inactive. thats hardly fair.

Ive heard that Sheika was given a gift against Glen Johnson, but I cant say anything for myself. yet to see it.

otherwise yep, an excellent record. one of the best of the last 10 years.
