David Tua was pretty cool. I met him at a press conference before the Guttierez fight in 2006. I was just relaxing with my note pad taking notes and he was like "Hey man, are you Somoan?" I told him that I was Filipino and that I had seen almost all of his fights. I was kind of star struck because he was one of my heroes.
After he KO'ed Guttierez the next night, he came out of the ring and gave me a hug. I was like cool man, and interviewed him about how he felt. Then I looked down at my **** and realized that he had covered the entire front of my new Calvin Klein oxford with sweat. LOL
Jerson Ravelo is pretty cool. The first time I interviewed him, we met up at a basketball court in Newark to shoot some hoops. He was very candid and I learned a lot about the business of boxing from talking with him. For our next interview we went bowling. He kicked my ass bad in bowling though. I didn't do much better shooting hoops.
Floyd Mayweather was pretty cool. I brought El Jefe from the forums to the DLH press conference to meet them. Jefe went for an autograph and Mayweather's security was like get back. Mayweather was like "Get the **** off me," to his security guard. "If my fan wants an autograph he's gonna get an autograph.
During the media round table I was all the way at the end trying to ask a question. He was like hold up, come around the table and stand next to me. It was easier to get my questions in standing right next to him.
Mayweather's team has to keep him focused on tasks because he likes to meet and talk with his fans.
Mike Anchondo is one of the few boxers I'd say is truly my friend. I was so sad when he got beat by Jiminez, but I was happy that he was feeling better afterwards. He's a really cool guy.
Jeff Mayweather is a really nice guy. He is the most unassuming boxing personality I ever met. He just likes to sit down with his back kind of arched forward making himself less con****uous. He's a genuinely nice guy.
Bones Adams, Paulie Malignaggi, Jameel McCline, Jaidon Codrington, Sechew Powell, Nonito Donaire, so many down to Earth guys in boxing. It's a lot easier to name the ******s in boxing than it is the nice guys.
