I'm not sure if Pryor could win fighting like this...
But I believe the way Pryor was fighting against Arguello could be the way to beat Mayweather.
I do not mean that Pryor should try to outbox Mayweather but rather work his pressure style behind boxing technique, not the wild, face first style (although he had good movement) he mostly used to blow guys out in 2 or 3 rounds.
You are not going to beat Mayweather with a single Plan A, you need Plan B,C & D as they say... And a hell of a lot of natural ability, which Pryor had.
"The Hawk" could do better work when Mayweather is on the ropes than Hatton and Baldomir did, he was a very good finisher and an active puncher with power and handspeed.
Laying on the ropes is not a good idea against Pryor even with Mayweather's defense.
Mayweather's timing with the counter rights would give Pryor a lot of trouble, Pryor was not easy to hit but certainly not impossible to hit and Arguello hit him plenty, just not hard enough.
Mayweather may not have Arguello's power but he has much more movement and that means he can get out of the way after firing his shots unlike Arguello who depended on his power to make his opponents think twice about getting close. Arguello could not do this against Pryor.
Pryor would always stay on Mayweather though...
It could all go down to Mayweather taking a few too many rounds off while Pryor never did, which would grant Pryor a close decision.
15 rounds could be different because we have never seen Mayweather go 15, he has not had any trouble going 12 though except maybe against Castillo for the first time.Last edited by TheGreatA; 05-28-2008, 06:38 AM.Comment

Wow! nice match-up!!!
It could be an even fight after 12, but rounds 13, 14, and 15 would be HAWK TIME! I wouldn't be suprised if Aaron stopped Floyd! Aaron Pryor was a BEAST and a half!!!Comment

this would be a helluva fight... I think floyd will win because of his defense and accuracy... but pryor's activity, power, speed and tenacity will make it a damn tough fight for floyd.Comment

I've never seen Mayweather tired in the ring so I don't really see 15 rounds being an issue (as far as stamina goes). I've only seen a handful of Pryor fights, but my understanding is that he was simply a bull of a fighter. He lacked great technique, but had the ability to keep coming forward. In my eyes that sets up perfectly for PBF.Comment

No Clue. Pryor was NON STOP at 140 but 140 is Floyd's best weight where it seemed his speed, power, elusiveness, and ring smarts all peaked at once. I just don't know about this one.Comment
