Hearns. Come on now, Hearns right hand is the closest thing to a human missile that i can think of.

Can't disagree. His defining fight was a brutal knockout loss to Hagler and he never really did anything after that. Kind of sad...he'll only be remembered for blazing a trail through relative unknowns, and later being a centerpiece of knockout highlight reels.
Mugabi did win a version of the world title after that Hagler fight (although it was due to the opponent injuring himself) and beat some solid contenders, nothing to indicate that he was a harder puncher than Thomas Hearns though. Hearns KO'd guys at cruiserweight.

I would argue that Mugabi was the stronger of the two though.

Mugabi was nothing after this fight.
Look at the bombs he takes (2:45-3:00) and look at the bombs he delivers, that uppercut at 2:05 or the counter right at 2:16 for example. Then compare that to his performances against Terry Norris and Gerald McClellan.

Hearns was simply a freak physically.

Hearns takes out Cuevas. The interview at the end of the vid with Leonard reminds me of the Cotto vs Mayweather hype that is going on today.

Mugabi showed a lot more than I think he was getting credit for at the time. I was 2 then, obviously I wasn't aware of the time, but I think Mugabi must have surprised a lot of people with that performance.

I don't know whether Mugabi was just always over rated, or whether the Hagler fight ruined him, or some combination of both. He definitely appeared to be a heavy handed, concussive puncher however. We never saw evidence of his power past the contender level, but I suspect it was there. Gotta go by what was proven though...and Hearns could punch with the best of em.

The sixth round of Hagler/Mugabi is one of the best rounds I have ever seen.
