Hearns, he was knocking out world class fighters. Mugabi wasn't able to outpunch people when he got to the top.

Hearns for sure. Mugabi was incredibly overrated. If anyone doesn't think so, then tell me the best fighter he ever beat.

Ask Marvin Hagler. He ate some bombs from both of them.

In Hagler's fight with Mugabi, you could hear Mugabi landing. That was the first time I ever heard that on tv. I was pretty awed.

As for who punched the hardest I'll have to go with the hitman. That right hand is perhaps the best ever.

Both guys hit very hard. I don't think Mugabi's lack of success post-Hagler or his inability to notch a significant professional win takes away from the fact that he hit like a mule.

Tommy Hearns' right hand might be the single hardest punch in the history of the sport around his weight though. That was pure violence.

If I'm being honest then I'd have to admit that The Beast could really hit. It's just that IMO the Hagler loss made him incredibly overrated as a fighter.

Can't disagree. His defining fight was a brutal knockout loss to Hagler and he never really did anything after that. Kind of sad...he'll only be remembered for blazing a trail through relative unknowns, and later being a centerpiece of knockout highlight reels.

                  Actually...there was this too:

Thomas Hearns. Is this a serious question? No comparison, someone like Julian Jackson, now we're talking.
