    That was a good one..

Floyd has more cred than Cotto could ever dream of having..
Both men have credibility & respect. Cotto doesn't talk about Mayweather, Mayweather doesn't talk about cotto. Regardless, they will meet sooner or later, believe me. But They are not afraid of each other, why do you guys assume that?

Floyd is the p4p King...not Cotto..if he wants some HE has to come calling..not the other way around..
Well the thing is, thats not his style. why he will have to say something to Floyd, If Floyd all ready know that Cotto is the other man besides him. And the fact of the matter is that everybody, including boxers, trainers, fans and even the casual fans know that, thats the fight that needs to happend. Everybody know it. So why talk smack or anything. After Margarito. Bob Arum shoul try to make contact with Floyd or vicevers. Businnes is bussinnes and Floyd should not be making the excuse that him and Arum dont like each other. You know what happend with oscar. so after Margarito Mayweather knows is him next.

        What a jerk.

Unstead of calling out Floyd, he tries to persuade public that his fight against the P4P best and the only true elite fighter in WW besides Cotto himself doesn't matter.

It DOES matter, you puffed up PR boy.

As much as I tend to lean towards the thought of "you have to BEAT the champion to BE the champion" i think this might be an exception.

I mean what do you do if a fighter (floyd jr) who is considered the p4p best in the sport doesnt want to fight the other top fighters of his division?

eventually he will be passed up as the p4p champ (if floyd continues not to fight the very best fighters) and cotto will be considered by the fans (where it counts) the top welterweight even though ring magazine and whoever else says otherwise.

maybe it will still trick the casual fans but the fans who follow the sport closely will know the real deal...

With that said i still hope the floyd v. cotto fights happens sometime in '09.

When did Arum afforded anything for Cotto? And how much?

Mayweather and Cotto needs each other to seal their bid for the best welterweight or one of the best of all time like sugar leonard. So i think the fight will happen sonner or later. If it didnt it really suck. Imagine, the speculations and debate of who would win or "what if" considering that they belong to the same generation both on their prime. Too much to let pass for both fighters, so i think the fight will happen sooner or later.

Nobody has beaten more TOP 10 welterweights than Cotto

Floyd fights for Money. Cotto? Nobody has beaten more TOP 10 welterweights. Respect is the ultimate currency.

I was one of the many people that wanted Cotto to call out Mayweather just to make that fight "happen" but now that I think about it, Cotto has no need to call out someone who has no interest in fighting him at this point or ever. If the fight happens, it will happen, and Mayweather will be the one who comes out and says it, Miguel knows this and he is just looking for bigger fish to fry, I really can't blame him anymore for this. Cotto is a very conceited and prideful man, so I don't see him calling anyone out because he feels superior than the rest.

I think Cotto is just being cool and classy. What a difference to the flash and no substance of Floyd.
Bsides Gomez every recent Cotto fight has been a good one where the result was in doubt. He fights actual challengers.
Floyd (whilst brilliant) has followed his own money grubbing agenda. This is fine and works for him. It doesn't endear him to fans or purists though and he gains fortunes (on top of his already fabulous wealth) at the cost of his legacy. In retrospect he will always be a fighter who didn't seek the challenges.
The earlier career of Floyd was stellar. His later career has been uninspiring and competant.
Personally I'd rather be wealthy and remembered as a giant instead of being mega-wealthy and remembered as a 'could've been'.

I just dont think cotto wants to step down to mayweathers level. If Mayweather trully does want to fight Cotto he will.Everyone has been calling for it the only one acting deaf about the situation is Mayweather. Once hes ready he will thats all to it. Cotto has to just keep doing Cotto.
